Obviously, beating ISUr and WIU was the easiest path to 7 wins, but the QB was knocked out early and changes the narrative a bit. It seems that it is lining up like this: - Win the bye week (get everyone healthy & rested) - Beat WIU without drama - NDSU: they are vulnerable, as everyone knows. If Camp is back and we are healthy, I think the Yotes can score in the high 20s/low 30s, which may beat NDSU in Fargo this year. - SDSU: This is a huge opportunity for the Yotes. SDSU is getting a massive 'benefit of the doubt' from all media (and likely selection committee) based on prior years and the screwy spring season. As such, beating SDSU will almost count as 2 wins in the eyes of the committee. The thing is, it doesn't appear they really are an elite team, and if the Yotes can stay reasonably healthy I think a W is likely in the dome. It works in our favor if they keep winning (even if they lose to NDSU), since perception is everything.
This is the MVFC - we could win all three or lose all three. But it seems to me we have a bead on a 2 wins coming - but the bye week will be important.

The bye week is absolutely key right now. This is the time of year we have a tendency to fizzle because we don’t have as much depth as other heavyweights. I felt like that was evident Saturday. Need to get Whitcomb back, Starling too. Get Camp healthy, Theis and Thomas fresh legs. Mansaray could sure help them by taking some carries and being productive. Some bumps and bruises on OL. Harberts was out sick Saturday at RT. Tschirhart apparently didn’t impress in his start on DDays because Wallace got the call, and he has struggled to play RT in the past. We gotta get back to the run first identity. Felt like we abandoned it too quickly Saturday.
Hopefully ISUr beats up on WIU this coming weekend and we benefit from a tired and beat up team as we come out of our bye.
SDSU has no gimmie @ YSU this week. We all know that’s a tough trip. NDSU basically on a bye against Indy St. MO ST can put UND out of the picture for good. SIU has a big trip to UNI coming off their bye, but probably put them out of things completely. Man the MVFC is a meat grinder.

Perfect time for a bye week. I've always hated that we would have it before even starting conference play. Absolutely critical right now to have this time to regroup.
Minimum 7 wins to make the playoffs. 6 has done it before but won't this time. We have to beat WIU and at least one of the last two games. We can win any of these games. WIU is the bottom feeder, sdsu has been wildly overrated and coming back to a building they struggle in, and NDSU is clearly vulnerable.
We could also lose any of these games. Win the bye week and go from there.

We fell to 21st in the latest polls. I've got a lot of problems with being behind several of the teams ahead of us.

I was doing a little looking at the standings. Although I don't think the Coyotes will get in at 6-5 and 4-4 I do think there is still a little possiblity that is could happen.
If that happens NDSU, SDSU, S. Ill and Mizzo St are basically locks over the Coyotes.
In that case a 5th Valley team could still be considered that finishes 4-4. If UNI were to lose one more and Illinois State doesn't win both than the Coyotes would be 4-4 with UNI. Illinois State would be 3-5 with one more loss. UNI plays at Mizzo St and vs W. Ill. Illinois State plays at UND and vs Ind St. We should probably be rooting for Illinois State to lose in Grand Forks and UNI to lose at Missouri State. Missouri State is guaranteed at worst 5-3 so with a head to head loss I don't see the Coyotes passing them unless they win out.
There is a slight opening for the Coyotes if they lose both but only slight. But it is enough of an opening that we should be keeping an eye out for these scores. The Coyotes don't have very many good wins right now because their Valley wins are all to the bottom half of the Valley teams. The focus is obviously on winning against the Jacks to basically punch their playoff ticket that way.

The worst the Yotes can now finish is tied for 4th in the league. It looks like NDSU, Missouri State, southern Illinois, south Dakota and SDSU if they beat und Will be the 5 playoff teams and uni will probably be out with all others not mentioned.

I wonder if they had a bidding process when the Coyotes played nicholls because I don't remember people talking about that back then. Maybe I just don't remember.

There was, but it was our first time, fresh off a brutal loss, and people were just happy that we made it for the first time. I do vaguely recall someone with inside info defending our AD here saying the bid was competitive. We were fresh off bidding for all those WNIT home games so I believe we weren't (and won't be) cheap in our bids. I'm sure the posts are still around for anyone bored enough to look.

We lost that bid by $3000. I'm told that our bid for hosting this year is very generous.

I am gonna make a little prediction and this is just a somewhat uneducated guess. I think the Yotes will play southern Illinois and the winner will travel to either Montana or fargo but I will say Fargo.

I do think SIU will make it. They are 7-4 and 5-3 just like the Coyotes. Their resume is fairly similar. They beat SDSU just like the Yotes but they did not play NDSU so that might hurt them and put the Yotes in over them.
