I ultimately agree with the sentiment that an all mvfc pod is bs. But, with the way siu finished the season and with our performance yesterday and home against isu-red, I really can’t get too upset. We take care of isu and we are likely not in this position. 100%. You reap what you sew. If we think we deserve to be in the playoffs we have to prove it.

I'll take UNI's path over ours. They didn't exactly light the world on fire sneaking in at 6 wins. Merit has absolutely nothing to do with where the unseeded teams got drawn.

Pretty sure the ncaa pays for the travel, so they want bus trips when possible. The ncaa makes like $50-100k on the entire playoff. So they’re not going to fly UC Davis to Holy Cross if they can avoid it. It’s just the way it goes.

Part of this is also that we bid and asked for the late game because we are hosting the SLT for VB next weekend. They wanted to give our team the chance to play at home but operationally couldn’t do it unless it was the late game. Maybe no one else wanted a late game and our dome was the perfect setting. A lot of moving parts to the bracketing.

Plus the NCAA gets a slice of ticket revenue in the playoffs (hence why attendance numbers suddenly drop for everyone once you have to pay for each head actually in the building).

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled we're in the playoffs and have a home game. But the bracket is complete BS. We would wipe the floor just about any of those teams from down south or the east coast outside of maybe SHSU and JMU, but we get to play a conference opponent in the first 2 rounds.

I like our first round matchup much better than UNI's. Going to Eastern Washington would be a nightmare. I think EWU is the best team not in the top 8. I like our chances at home vs Southern Illinois. Southern is coming off an A** whooping just like us. I hate that we have to travel to Fargo if we win, but oh well. When there is 6 teams in your conference in the playoffs there is going to be some overlap.

Totally agree. Our CB depth would likely struggle mightily against EWU on the road. We just saw YSU run all over SIU @ SIU. I would think we can ground & pound as well.

Exciting to be in the playoffs, but our draw does kind of suck. Don't love playing a conference opponent in the first round and I flat out hate having to go to Fargo in the second round. After seeing how the game went this past weekend you can't help but feel the ceiling is second round of the playoffs. If we were anywhere else in the bracket I would feel like we had a realistic shot to make a real good run.

I've seen strange things happen in rematches during a football season. Our guys would be ready, but first things first...as in Southern Illinois.

I agree the best bet is to just be happy the Coyotes are home and still playing. Looking ahead is not the best thing to do but we all know the green elephant that awaits in the next room. I have never been to a home Coyote football playoff game and I am very excited to finally be getting that opportunity.

I believe that the entire 24 team field should be seeded but the top 8 receive those buys. Then seeds 9-16 should be separated and none should play each other in the first round. I don't believe that this regionalization crap should happen in D1 sports but whatever. If teams cannot afford to travel for the post season than they should not be D1. Anyway than seeds 17-24 could than be regionalized and play 9-16.
Than it should be brackets as follows. The game that includes the higher seed should be bracketed properly.
winner or 9 vs 8 10 vs 7 11 vs 6 12 vs 5 13 vs 4 14 vs 3 15 vs 2 16 vs 1
I can see East Tennessee State as an over rated seed. I think probably at least 8 teams in the field that are not seeded could probably beat them.

Why don't we pick our brackets starting with the final 8.
I am going with the following
1) Sam Houston UR) Missouri State (beating Montana State) 5) Seed Villanova - but I think they are over rated UR) SDSU - beating an over rated Sac State 2) NDSU 7) E Tennessee State (but only cause it is a horrible pod) UR) E Washington (over unranked UNI and #6 Montana) 3) James Madison
1) Sam Houston (but would not be surprised to see Missouri State win) UR) SDSU - wins at Villanova in a double digit win 2) NDSU - crushed ETSU like a pulp 3) James Madison (beats E-Wash but barely)
UR) SDSU - gets revenge on Sam Houston on the Bearcats home field 2) NDSU - comfortable win
NDSU wins the title again because when the post season hits NDSU doesn't lose to the Jacks either in the Fargo Dome or Fargo Un-Dome South.
