UNI will also be in the discussion and we all know they seem to be over rated quite a bit. They are only 6-5 but a good example of a valley team that may not make it even though they will be better than many playoff teams. I guess I kind of contradicted myself a bit there.

I do think SIU will make it. They are 7-4 and 5-3 just like the Coyotes. Their resume is fairly similar. They beat SDSU just like the Yotes but they did not play NDSU so that might hurt them and put the Yotes in over them. If the committee can only take 4 MVFC teams for some reason, I don’t know how we don’t have a tiebreaker over SIU because we won @ UNI & they lost there. We finished season 2-2, they finished 1-3. I think NDSU & MO St should get seeds, and SDSU & USD should be in IMO based on MVFC SOS. Precedent there for 7-4 and 5-3 MVFC teams making it, which is the case for both USD & SIU.

For the record, I think the FCS selection process is ridiculous. Home games go to the highest bidder in a closed bid process? Seriously?
But I do also expect SDSU to get a significantly better 1st round matchup than USD, and wouldn't be surprised if they got a seed. They will have losses to 2 teams they are being compared to (USD & SIU) and a weaker resume. But the committee has repeatedly shown that they reward pedigree and history, and judge a current year's result through the lens of the last few years. So SDSU's win over NDSU and the playoff run in the spring (where the committee seemed to gift them home games) will mean more than the fact that they lost head to head to teams in the same slot.
My guess is that Davidson will travel to Brookings, and USD will go to either Cal Davis or Montana.

Montana will be a seed after today. I also don’t see SDSU getting a seed.

SIU didn't have to play NDSU or USD. Their non-conference was an FBS, a dumpy OVC team, and a non-scholarship team. Their entire resume hangs on having beaten sdsu and UND (which...they tied with Indiana State in conference play. Is that a good win anymore?). Their resume isn't that much worse than ours, but getting stomped by the worst team in the MVFC today very well could knock them out. I haven't paid attention to today's results, but I would not be surprised to see SIU done for the year.

Montana will be a seed after today. I also don’t see SDSU getting a seed. True - I meant whoever isn't seeded out of EWU/Montanta/UC Davis.

Montana will be a seed after today. I also don’t see SDSU getting a seed. Agreed on both counts. Missouri State would get a seed before sdsu, but neither are getting one.

I think MO St gets the 8 seed.

I think MO St gets the 8 seed. I would have agreed if Montana lost today. I'd say they are barely on the wrong side of that line.

So why should the Big sky which is a week or conference get about three seeds and the Missouri valley only one. That does not make sense to me. Missouri State should absolutely be seated.

Actually, they may get 4 seeds...but, I completely agree. The Big Sky benefits tremendously from being so large that so many of their "good" teams get to avoid the other "good" teams. For example, Sacramento State swept their Big Sky schedule. Didn't have to play 2 of the 3 teams immediately behind them in the standings, and got pasted by UNI at home, but their record is great. I hope we get to visit them in the 2nd round.

Here is one projection after today's games: www.nobowls.com/They've got UNI in the field. Missouri State vs. sdsu USD vs. UC Davis (followed by Sac State...yes please)

That looks like a big sky Homer put that together. Missouri State and SDSU are probably 2 and 3 in the MVFC pecking order and they have the winner going to Fargo. Talk about bogus. That bracket is so big sky biased it isn't even funny.

Another projection: herosports.com/fcs-football-2021-final-playoff-predictions-bzbz/UNI in the field. USD vs. Southern Illinois (winner to Sac State) There's more...but both of these writers sure have the MVFC teams mostly spread around. I can only hope that's accurate. Except for the projection that sdsu has to go to Fargo.

That bracket is so big sky biased it isn't even funny. Montana, Montana State, Eastern Washington, and Sacramento State all finished 9-2. All of their losses either came against each other, Cal, Wyoming, Weber, or UNI. No bad losses. I hope the committee realizes these teams are horribly overrated, but I get why they are all projected so high.
