The football team deserves to be talked about this year so the silence today is a bit surprising. I will trade it if the dome is rocking on Saturday.

If we play a clean game offensively and special teams wise, I think we win convincingly. Like YF stated, this is something new to us recently, heading into a late conference game as the favorite. But after last week, this team showed the moxie and fortitude of a winner. I don't think we let success get to our head and continue the 1-game at a time mantra. Defensively, ISUr has been solid. They haven't really been able to figure it out yet on offense. I sure hope this isn't the week that they do. I have confidence in our defense to play well and if our offense continues to run the ball like we have, we'll be a tough team to beat going forward. Just don't give the ball away and put our D in a bad spot and I like our chances.
Should be a solid home crowd Saturday for the 1st true home-field advantage for us since the remodel. I'm excited(almost typed "jacked", but then used my better judgement) for this game.

Illinois State is always a good team. They might be at the bottom of the standings but they still alarm me. Don't take them lightly and take care of business again.

Absolutely, they are 0-3 in the MFC but have played 3 ranked teams. Remember the Yotes needed 7 turnovers and won by a score in the spring.

One observation: at 3-1 and favorites to win this week, the Yotes have looked the part. Nothing gimmicky. Not under-sized. Not relying on 1 all-world player. You would never know when watching a game that there are so many freshmen/sophomores on the field. We looked bigger, faster, and stronger than UNI.
Kudos to the coaching/training staff!

Something has finally clicked here. This team is going toe-to-toe with their opponents and winning with just good sound fundamental football. No flash. No flukes. Just beating the other guys down. To do that with predominantly underclassmen and a small core of seniors is very impressive. Lots to be excited about here in Vermillion.

I'm not so XNO savvy, but I do remember a couple of years ago when our new D-coordinator was hired, that his "positionless" concept seemed to be a novel thing. Especially in flexibility of defensive fronts, and some deception in what type of defense is shown vs what it actually is. Anyone have any thoughts on how that is producing results now, in his third season in Vermillion? 2018 Sports Illustrated Article: www.si.com/nfl/2018/11/14/defensive-schemes-rpos-mike-pettine-packers-naia-grand-view2019 GoYotes.net discussion: usdcoyotesports.proboards.com/thread/2474/coaching-changes?page=42019 Yankton P&D article: www.yankton.net/sports/article_4c8b9cf0-cb61-11e9-930c-cb9f4ae13943.html

Do we know if Jonathan Lewis will be bank in uniform? I don't know when/what happened on the injury front, but he was in street clothes the past game or two.

Thought coach said on Monday that he was sick. But if he was sick, I would think he would’ve stayed away from sideline.

I’ll eat my crow. I was pretty frustrated by it in the past, but it seems like it’s working great now. Glad to see it. As for Illinois State, this is not a team to overlook. I worked on the field as a student during the 2014 home game and I was amazed by their size, athleticism, and physicality. They have pushed us around pretty good in the past. I remember we felt pretty good about ourselves in 2017 and they punched us square in the mouth. We look like we are finally putting it all together. This team is pumped up. Time to let it fly!!

We are in an unusual role and that’s being a favorite. How do we react to being the favored team? How big of a favorite are we? What is the spread on this game?

I don’t know. Would guess 10 - 12. Strictly a guess.
By the way, in the event anyone needs tickets I have 4 left. 1st row on west side. 40 yard line north end. Message me.
They are electronic so I’d need your phone number to transfer OR I’ll be tending bar at the Big Red Bus tomorrow by 10 am. Which also leads me to invite ALL POSTERS on here for some great food, game on tv, and a beverage of your choice from water to soda to tap brew or bloody marys
