Thursday, Dec 16 6:30 PM on FloSports
Not sure if the FloSports stream is free or premium... if anyone knows, post that.
The Yotes will have a doozy of a non-conference finale! Creighton (#32 NET, 6-2) looks pretty good this year, and should be considered a "Quadrant-1" game. Here is their schedule so far (all rankings are current NET):
L 79-82 @ #67 Drake W 71-51 vs #186 Omaha L 62-67 @ #4 Nebraska W 67-55 vs #73 SDSU W 79-72 vs #36 UNI W 64-38 vs #189 Georgetown W 72-58 vs #143 Villanova W 69-62 vs #53 Arizona St
Predictions Yotes lose 56-60 (Warren Nolan R1) Yotes lose 56-60 (Warren Nolan ELO) Yotes lose 59-64 (Massey)

According to this October 1 ARTICLE, FloSports is the home of the BEDN (Big East Digital Network), and it picks up all school-produced streams that aren't slated for being televised by the various Fox sports networks. It sure sounds like it is a premium stream: sh!!tty

FloDports is an expensive, horrendous, choppy, worthless stream. In order to watch one game, you have to sign up for a subscription, and pay for the whole month, and then you have to try to cancel the subscription.

FloDports is an expensive, horrendous, choppy, worthless stream. In order to watch one game, you have to sign up for a subscription, and pay for the whole month, and then you have to try to cancel the subscription. Sounds like everyone should just drive to Omaha. It has been 8 years since USD lost to Creighton. USD won games in 2015, 16, 17, 18, and 19. Creighton has had excellent teams in this timeframe, and I feel like I've been led to believe that they are on a whole other level, but all I know them as is a team that USD embarrasses. Continue that tradition.

They simply need to go out and play defense like they are currently doing, get some scoring from the bench, and they will be fine. I would like to see the team not rely so heavily on the Big 3. The ladies are no longer relying on outscoring their opponents. They tend to take things away their opponents like to do and that is winning ball games. The team is weather tested with the non-con schedule thus far and I for one like their chances. Go Yotes!!!

This would be the fifth consecutive season that opponents have failed to average 60 points per game so it's not like this is a recent development. Plitzuweit's teams have always locked people down. Besides, if you want to win games, you better rely on outscoring your opponents. Tough to do it any other way.

And looking at season stats between these two teams, we will need to play much better offensively than our averages to have a chance at winning. We won't be able to just "out turnover" them, and hope they don't make any three-pointers. Because they will make some. And we will need to make some. Fortunately, I think they are capable of doing just that. But certainly not a given.

Stats comparison (summary)
Offense Creighton has better offensive stats in pretty much every category. A huge difference is that they attempt and hit more from the arc. Much better assist numbers, too. Notable are the comparisons at:
stat____Creighton_USD PPG -----70.4-------61.3 3PT%---.349-------.269 3P/G-----8.1--------5.7 FT%-----.721-------.707 Asst/G---19.8-------11.7
Defense USD has the better defense, but not in every category. They defend the arc at a more efficient clip. They also are getting slightly more steals and blocks per game, although that could be a product of having faster, higher # possession games.
stat____Creighton_USD PPG------60.6-------54.7 FG%-----.396-------.355 3P%-----.289-------.305 Stl/G-----8.1---------7.5 Blk/G-----3.6---------2.9
Ball Control USD has a clear advantage in Turnovers and Turnover margin, but Creighton is the better rebounding team. The very big discrepancy in Assists also gives them an advantage in Assist/Turnover ratio.
stat______Creighton_USD TO/G-------14.3-------13.5 TO/forced--15.1-------19.8 TO margin-+0.9------+6.3 Reb Margin-+6.0-----(-1.2) A/TO ratio--1.4--------0.9

Thanks Men's League Waterboy!!! I appreciate the help looking stupid!! The point that I am trying to make is since 2017 every Yote Women's team has average in the 70-80 points per game and even with a subpar defensive effort on some nights they could outscore their opponents. This year has been a bit of a different story. No, I have to say this may be a direct result of the quality of the opponents in 2021 thus far on the offensive side of things. It will only help when the conference season rolls in.

GoYotes Article LinkTHE BLUEJAYS
Creighton (6-2) has not left the state of Nebraska since Nov. 10. In that span, the Bluejays have won five-straight entering Thursday with a pair of Big East victories under their belt earlier this month. Creighton also owns a 2-0 record against Summit teams with wins over Omaha (71-51) and South Dakota State (67-55). Leading the Bluejays is South Dakota native Emma Ronsiek with 14.9 points and five rebounds per game. The second-year player is shooting at a 55.3 percent clip. Morgan Maly (11.3) and Carley Bachelor (10.3) join her in double-figure scoring. The Bluejays share the ball well, averaging 19.8 assists per game (sixth in the NCAA).
Recognize those three players? both USD offered all three of them, and we got a visit from Bachelor. Looks like we need to extend that win streak...

Just checked the rules, and this does, in fact, count towards the CoyDog JayRabbit standings. Just playing an unbalanced schedule this year...
