Spring ball coming up … it will be interesting to see how the roster may change after spring ball. My sense is that with the last couple recruiting classes will give many opportunities this spring for the young guys. Offensively, the RB position is about as good as we can get. Real solid at RB but hope we can keep them all. QB solid but not sure we have a trusted back up yet. OLine? I mean we went all in this past recruiting class on Oline, I’d like to think we are solid at that position with depth. TE? Lost a good one but also have at least one with experience. WR ? Bell is obviously the feature guy. Case is still in a boot and questionable, some 2nd and 3rd stringers left, another opportunity for some young guys to step up. Defensively is a big question especially at inside LB and secondary. Wondering if some of our outside backers get a chance to go inside. DL? Difficult to find great Dlinemen but iur scheme last year was solid all year. Special Teams…lost our ST coach, punter and kicker… yikes!! Return game and coverage should be solid. Any thoughts?

Pretty good summary. In general, we've recruited really well in recent years. It will be interesting to see who steps up to fill some of the really big shoes that have left. My main concern is size and depth with the interior defensive linemen.

WR Jeremiah Webb enters the portal That's really a shame. We're not hurting at wide receiver, but he certainly left his mark here. If he'd have stayed all four years he possibly could have become a Coyote legend. Maybe he already is.

His response was, "No, they like to keep the players recruited at the position they were recruited for". Maybe never say never though.

The Webb transfer is mind boggling yet indicative of today’s NCAA. The free covid year has become a bit of a blessing and a curse. Guy spends 3 years in a program developing. Gets his chance late in year 3, and has 1 great game with a signature play (albeit quite lucky) and all of a sudden he believes his stock is ⬆️ so it’s time to look for greener pastures with 3 years eligibility left. I understand to a degree that a man is as loyal as his options, and coaches (not just HC) are all looking for advancement, so why can’t the players? But is this young man really primed for takeoff? I guess time will tell.
The transient nature of college athletics has already ruined college basketball except for 3 weeks. It’s becoming like MLB. Local ratings are great, but nationally very few care. I watch USD, and pay attention to the Summit League. But I watch zero other college basketball anymore.
I guess I wish Webb, Kuchel, Smith, and any other transfer best of luck so long as it doesn’t come against us.

Do we know for sure that Webb is transferring because he thinks he will be picked up by an FBS program? As noted, he didn't play much last year until the end. Maybe he knows or has been informed that he is not projected to get many snaps again next year and wants to find another program where he will. Maybe there are non-football reasons for transferring.

I have no idea where he’s planning to go.

I heard he almost left last year for a HBCU school …. But that was secondhand news and have no idea if thats his intention this year

If Webb leaves than I thank him for making one of the biggest plays and one of the greatest moments in Coyote Sports history.

It’s a travesty to see guys that have an opportunity to contribute and build their resume leave for perceived greener pastures. The transfer portal is becoming a disaster. Especially when they may not be as coveted as they think. I can understand if it’s a guy that sees the writing on the wall and know he has little chance of playing or drifts to a lower level to play. Word on the street is quite a few of the WRs leaving are because of the WR Coach. Not 100% sure, but that would be interesting to see how it is handled internally. Hope none of our top WRs are thinking in that same direction.

What’s that supposed to mean? We can’t lose any of our top guys to the portal. Too thin at certain spots. Starters are talented as heck, but that could go away quick in a season.
