I could see an announcement Friday or Monday with a press conference Monday or Tuesday/Wednesday.

I have to say I was a bit disappointed Coach J didn't get the job. It would have helped with program continuity. I am sure they must have someone identified that will do a great job and keep the momentum the program has. It is good new so far that I have not found any of the current players or committed players in the Portal. Fingers Crossed!!!

I think that is the biggest benefit of owning our backyard in terms of recruiting. I don't really care where players are from when they're on the court, but right now it feels really important that USD is the premier WBB program in the region. If a recruit has second thoughts and wants wants to look somewhere else in the area, they know they're looking at an inferior program. The same goes for girls currently on the roster. It seems like they have totally bought in and know the grass is plenty green right here.

It is good new so far that I have not found any of the current players or committed players in the Portal. Fingers Crossed!!! I agree with fightsd, and I'd add that this points to two things: 1. recruiting the right way. If our recruits and players were sold on snake oil, they would have no reason to stay when the coach leaves. The loyalty is just to the salesperson that got them here. 2. Good culture. Not just the culture of the team but the Athletic Department and the fans/ community. I've heard so many recruits talk about how when they did a visit, it felt like "family". Coach P did a good job of enhancing, embracing and growing that culture, but it was somewhat already there when she got here. That's why I hope Herbster looks at that aspect of potential coaches, too.

Anyone have access to the Argus article on the top ten candidates for the womens job. If you could copy and paste that would be awesome. Have no desire to subscribe to the Argus. Thank you!! Here is their list, for what it's worth: Jason Jeschke, USD assistant Kayla Karius, Drake assistant Travis Traphagen, USF head coach Molly Miller, Grand Canyon head coach Carrie Eighmey, Nebraska-Kearney head coach Emilee Thiesse, MSU-Mankato head coach Mandy Pearson, Minnesota Duluth head coach Carrie Moore, Michigan assistant Tom Goehle, Nebraska assistant Kim Stephens, Glenville State head coach Carrie Moore took the head job at Harvard. Secretly I was pulling for her to come to USD just to reignite the UM coaching talk. But honestly wasn't sure why she was on Zim's list in the first place. The article referenced here mentions a top assistant at Creighton (copied below)
Linda Sayavongchanh, Creighton assistant coach/recruiting coordinator
Sayavongchanh has mid-major pedigree, having coached at Saint Louis, North Dakota and Drake. When you talk about knowing the ins and outs of recruiting in the Midwest, she’s right near the top of the list. Creighton’s recruiting footprint is within a six-to-seven hours drive of the school, so if a Division I job were to open in that area, Sayavongchanh would be able to hit the ground running for that program. That makes her one of the best under-the-radar regional coaching candidates out there.

Amber Hegge Cunningham has the same experience as the Creighton assistant. Plus Coach S coached at North Dakota which automatically disqualifys her.

Hard to believe that no one has heard a name in this process. Was Peterson that obvious that his name started to float right away? Does the lack of any rumbling say that this will be a name that is not expected?

Feels a lot like when Amy left...radio silence and then Coach P. I'm dying for an announcement.

Does the lack of any rumbling say that this will be a name that is not expected? I have to assume Coach Pete was already on ADDH’s “rainy day” short list that he always keeps (by his own admission). Plus, sounds like Lee was already on a hot seat from admin since last year. Guessing Pete knew about that situation.

I'd rather endure silent due diligence than a public circus or rushed decision. We'll be fine. It's barely been a week.

Early leader (10 voters so far) in the coaching poll I put up a few minutes ago: Carrie Eighmey, UN-Kearney Head Coach. She certainly has recruited this region before. And she won D-2 Coach of the Year just last year. Here's her bio again: lopers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/coaches/carrie-eighmey/1172Coaching Career
Nebraska-Kearney, Head Coach (2016-present) Hastings College, Head Coach (2012-15) Fort Hays State University, Head Assistant Coach (2008-12) Hastings College, Head Assistant Coach (2004-08) She is a native of Edgar, Neb., and graduate of Sandy Creek High School and Hastings College. Whether as a player, assistant coach or head coach, Eighmey has been a part of not only winning programs but ones that contended for championships annually. She has won three national titles (two as as a player and one as an assistant coach). Year-By Year with Coach Eighmey: At UNK2021-22 24-8 (13-5) NCAA 2nd Round; MIAA Tournament Semis2020-21 22-3 (19-3) NCAA Sweet 16; MIAA Tournament Champs2019-20 26-6 (14-5) MIAA Tournament Semis2018-19 15-14 (8-11) MIAA Tournament 1st Rd. 2017-18 21-7 (13-6) MIAA Tournament 1st Rd. 2016-17 12-16 (8-11) MIAA Tournament 1st Rd. 2015-16 16-14 (11-11) MIAA Tournament Quarters 137-69 (91-52) At Hastings (Neb.) Molly Miller's record doesn't look too bad. That's who got my vote. Those last two years are at Grand Canyon.
