I think Kayla was the one that got Lamb, Korngable, and Tjerven ( Hannah on the transfer ). She can recruit. If it’s her, then in my eyes it’s a solid but safe pick. She knows USD

Interesting hire and congratulations to Kayla. Without question there will be some growing pains but I believe she will figure it out. She knows USD and is a wonderful person. Not sure how much stock you put in the recruits mentioned as I am sure most of them were recruited heavily by Coach P and she was probably the lead person. But I am excited to see what coach Kayla can accomplish on the recruiting front.
I say interesting hire if you look at the resume of the head coaches in the athletic dept. what you see is extensive experience.
Bob Nielsen who won two national championships at Duluth and was a head coach at Western Illinois and was able to put them in the playoffs.
Eric Peterson was a head coach in Jr college. He was an assistant at USD when they won the regular season conference championship. Became an assistant at Utah State where they won multiple conference championships and NCAA bids. He also was an assistant in the PAC 12 at Utah for one year.
Dawn Plitzuweit was an assistant at Wisconsin and made the NCAA tournament. Then became an assistant at UWGB where they won multiple conference championships and received NCAA appearances. Then to GVSU where as the Head Coach she won a National Championship. Next to University of Michigan as Associate Head Coach where they also made the NCAA tournament and multiple WNIT bids. Finally head coach at Northern Kentucky and made post season every year during the transition period.
I thought these coaches had lots of experience and success before getting the opportunity to be a head coach at USD. Kayla does not have those experiences and that success in her coaching career. I am a little nervous but believe she will get it done. We as Coyote Nation need to be supportive and excited and realistic as our new coach transitions through this process. My bet is she will figure it out and Coyote Women’s basketball will continue with its proud tradition. Go Yotes!

Definitely important not to judge harshly after a 1st season. Anyone remember Dawn’s 1st season? I can remember getting beat by Omaha on a Sunday afternoon SLT 1st round matchup. There were some questions that day about the future.

Unless my source inside the department is completely jerking my chain, Kayla is confirmed.

I would love to be a fly on the wall to experience her introducing herself to the team.

If anybody wants a good chuckle go read the bunny boards discussion on Dawn leaving. USD WBB lives in their heads rent free and they are all doing mental gymnastics over there making excuses for why they've taken behind. They're already claiming next seasons title and if not for some key injuries they'd have won this year too lol.

But you always have to remember how delusional we are and how hard it is to read our postings. Maybe we shouldn't use such big words.

Congrats to Dawn on West Virginia, but now onto our next coach. Who does everyone think will be our next head coach? Does Jason Jeschke have a shot at it? Could we lure some current head coaches away from their school like we did with Dawn at Northern Kentucky? Or find an up and coming assistant? One name I want to throw out is Kayla Karius (Tetsclag). She coached here with Dawn for a few years, then left for Wisconsin, and is now at Drake. Let's go get Kim Stephens from Glenville State. D2 National Champion, young, hungry, great coach. That's what we need to be looking for.
