Tic Tok, what the hell are we waiting for! We need to secure recruits and possible portal players. We are losing ground right now. WV and several others are practicing right now. Time to get off the pot! The only thing I think is happening is we have our coach, we’re assembling a staff, and talking to players, on roster and portal. And hopefully between our new womens coach and mens coach we have a lot of great news all at once!! |

I don't know if MBB and WBB have the exact same recruiting timeframes, but Coach Pete mentioned on this week's Yotecast that we are in a recruiting black-out period right now, so we are not technically missing out on portal players. (That said, SDSU had both a MBB and WBB signing this past week - so it could be that I don't understand the rules.)

Always just been a lurker on this board, but had to post this. USD plane is headed to Ankeny IA this afternoon with a return to Vermillion at 5:00. Assume this means Kayla Karius is the next head coach.

Assume this means Kayla Karius is the next head coach. If that's so, you gotta wonder if her husband doesn't slot into Eric Peterson's staff. They're very well-known to one another. |

I'm late to the show but I wanted to throw another name out there. Have no idea if this person would be interested or what her situation is with Creighton right now, but did anyone consider Connie Yori?

Kayla is young, and has never been a head coach, .... but dang it if she doesn't have a LOT of experience recruiting this region, as a D-2, Mid-major and P-5 program, with most of her time in the lead recruiter capacity.
Love the fact that she was mentored by Coach P. Both for system/style, and just for learning to be a good coach.
If it is her, we will no doubt have a transition/learning phase, ... but I think she will be able to hit the ground running in recruiting, and that's hella important.
What a great role model, too. Academics and personal values/ethics wise.
I'm excited.

Drake has Kayla's bio screwed up on the website. The second paragraph is about Nicci Hays Fort, not Kayla. Wouldn't you think someone would have caught that and fixed it? Anyway, speaking of Hays Fort, she's the top assistant, and has head coaching experience and more variety than Kayla. Not sure if her name has ever come up in this thread, but could she be it? We'll know soon.

Smith came in as an assistant and found some fine assistants of his own. Not sure how Peterson is doing on that front, but it's all part of the circle of life. That being said, a mid-major assistant with no head coaching experience was low on my wish list (if true). |

She was the Associate Head Coach for Wisconsin, so she will do just fine if she is the pick. She knows the recruiting landscape and can hit the ground running. |
