Good luck to Kyah and Maddie in their future basketball days. They put in a lot of work representing the university at a high level. At the end of the day they are 20 year olds trying to make what they feel is the right decision for themselves and I’m sure personally difficult decisions. Of course I wish they were staying but USD will be fine and I hope their decisions bring hem everything they are looking for in the future.

I remember some pretty choice words for David Jenkins and the ongoing glee and snarky comments about Otz when he was struggling and eventually gone at UNLV, so no, you're fanbase is not as perfect as you people think you are. I'll be damned if I'm going to go digging for them though but feel free. Anyway, you should realize that we have to keep up our reputation as per "Jackrabbit Illustrated" as a "trashy, trashy fan base". As for Maddie UNL doesn't seem to me like a good fit other than they're the Huskers and she's a Nebraska kid. They were a very young team last season with virtually all of their starters returning along with some depth so there might be a fight for playing time. I thought she might go to Creighton and join her high school teammate on a team that lost a ton of minutes from their guards. But in the long run I don't really care as it doesn't really affect my life one bit.

Bashing players is not appropriate but I don't think we all need to sit here and wish them well. It's not like these were players buried in the depth chart and weren't getting a shot. These were 2 leaders that ditched their friends and teammates. They left a program that's been in and out of the top 25 for what they think are greener pastures. Good riddance. I hope they find happiness in their decision, but I'm not going to sit here and hope they have a bunch of success at their new schools.
And stop comparing players transferring to coaches taking different jobs. It's not the same thing.

These two by their actions realized also they are not leaders! Did not want to step up to the challenge. They will be forgotten in a couple of years and people will only talk about the super seniors. Next year: dumpster fire Grace Larkin: dribble, dribble, dribble Macy Guebert: stand and shoot Morgan Hansen: gunner Jeniah Ugofsky: pass & foul Natalie Mazurek: Good thing the Summit is going to be very bad, we can compete with all but one. I don't think it's a doom and gloom as you're making it out to be. Players' roles will have to change but that's the case every year. Without the big 3, there's a ton of opportunity for younger players to become elite scorers.

*** Grumpy Old Man Rant *** A very fun thing about the Sweet 16 (almost Elite 8) run is that it brought a lot of new fans (and some fake non-fans) to the board. It is great to have the extra posters and points of view. However, it sure feels a lot more like Twitter than a community lately. Lots of angry hot takes and angst. The more over-the-top the statement, the more replies. A downward spiral. This board makes fun of the SDSU board for their frequent meltdowns - I wonder how many posts there are here about 2 freshmen basketball players transferring after a coaching change. (And 2 freshman role-players, at that.)
I don't think every post needs to be full of original insight - or even very smart - but it is not a good look that so many spiteful things have been posted during this transition. Put yourself in the shoes of a recruited player (or parent of a player) who is trying to get a feel for the fanbase. Would this be how you would want to represent the fan culture? *** End Rant ***

I have followed both fan boards for years as a basketball fan of all South Dakota schools. Only recently signed on to actually make comments as it’s not generally my thing. But over the years I have been more drawn to the USD fan boards because even contrary to what is stated on other fan boards I have liked the more intelligent posts and the lack of player bashing. I stated my opinions on the Maddie/Kyah leaving as my own speculation as to why they have left. It has not been to bash them as individual players. Just me trying to figure out why they would make that move. They have and so now it’s time to focus on who is here!

Wow, someone not on same page, so you call a bunny troll! I may not comment much, but read board often and have become more engaged of late. I guess i will continue to just read.

What did you expect? Little to no posts, only bashing the remaining team when you do not know how they will respond to their new roles. This is my snarkiness showing up, but you did not dispute the bunny troll comment, just saying.

I can't recall the exact posts regarding DJJ and Otz but I don't think they were burn them at the stake posts like some of these have been. More so the complaint that basically TJ essentially stopped coaching mid February when he likely knew he had the job. And DJJ after his half court heroics in Fargo just continued to play DJJ ball not team ball. Hence why they were bounced by WIU a week after beating them by 30+. Definitely no "greasy shit stain..." comments. Although I wouldn't doubt some felt that way.

Hey JFL, Maybe the reason you don't recall seeing those posts is the font was possibly in red and you were wearing your rose colored glasses as per normal when it comes to Up North Comments.

And stop comparing players transferring to coaches taking different jobs. It's not the same thing. They are different. Players only get 4 years of eligibility.

On one hand I understand it, the other I don’t. It’s a chance to play better competition, in a premier conference, for a good coach. But you’re also going to a place not as successful as the place you left.
Oh well, just gives Kayla another scholarship to recruit with.

Definitely no "greasy shit stain..." comments. Although I wouldn't doubt some felt that way. There's been a couple crap posts in this thread that show a clear lack of maturity, in my opinion. I personally don't like to see that. I understand the disappointment but let's all keep things in perspective. You know what else I don't like to see? Rival fans coming to this board and painting an entire fan base based on a couple crappy posts. Most people are disappointed to see Kyah and Maddie leave but understand that they are simply trying to make the best decision for themselves. I would suggest that if you want to pat yourself on the back for being so superior, keep it on the Jacks board. Next year will be a transition year with a lot of unknowns. But I'm excited to cheer on this team and watch it grow as the season progresses. Also for the sky is falling folks, remember that the roster you see now will see some changes. I guarantee you will see 2-3 additions via the portal. I wish Kyah and Maddie the best but I'm excited to see what sort of additions the next few weeks bring.
