I think this topic needs its own thread as opposed to being in thread with new coach.
I learned yesterday both gals have been practicing with the new coach. They are leaving today for a trip to Morgantown and returning Sunday. It appears that it comes down to staying or going to WVU. I really want them to get a true feel of West Virginia. Their potential new teammates, lifestyle, etc.
I have to believe in my heart that leaving their USD teammates would be harder than what we think. Remember, there’s basketball then there’s life around basketball. From late October to end of March you are with them 24/7. I imagine if they get a good feel out in Morgantown it will be a tough decision. That being said, now that they’ve had some experience with Coach K they have a feel for what she’d be like to play for. Early reports are the returning team is living having her as their coach.
I think personally they’ll make the decision in unison. They’ll with leave together or stay together. I know they live Coach P, and I get that, but they both love USD. I know the landscape out there a little bit and I just think they’ll come to the realization it isn’t the Midwest. There’s a little turmoil and tension right now with the hire as the team wanted another coach. Dawn will win them over I’m betting unless some of the gals think it’s an act.
My guess is we’ll know Monday after returning Sunday night.

Leaving for WVU
Pros: Coach P Big XII
Cons: FAAAAAAR away from home for both kids. Family would not make it to more than a handful of games over the course of the rest of their careers Leaving Teammates/friends Leaving a team at the top of the conference/competing for NCAA tourney bid Joining a team in the bottom of the Big XII and may not get back to the NCAA tourney
The scale seems to be shifted in one direction IMO. Either way, they need to make the best decision for them and their families and we should respect that decision as a fan base

I was thinking "living" was a typo for "liking"... then I realized that I and O are right next to each other on the keyboard... so it isn't "liking" it's "loving".... Big difference.

I simply hope the girls make the best decision for their future and their happiness overall. My worst fear and biggest concern for them is they make the move to Morgantown and then regret the decision and end up on a less successful path for their futures and now they are a long way from home. alternatively I don't want them to regret staying in Vermillion and not exploring the Morgantown possibility. I believe they would have to sit out a year in order to transfer again if they don't like WVU after a year if I understand the portal? I really enjoy watching them both play and I'll wish them the very best in whatever decision they make. Go Yotes!

Being in a conference that can more easily attract top talent, and always has multiple bids to the dance Ames, IA and Lawrence, KS are actually pretty close for Maddie's family, and Texas isn't the worst travel destination in the winter. Cons: Academics: West Virginia is the worst academic school in the Big XII, ranking #249 in US News recently (USD is #239, only below Denver and UST in Summit) Social: making new friends isn't always easy.

Question: Does anyone know of a WVU fanboard where they discuss what is going on with WBB? My quick searches find discussions on FB, MBB, and baseball - zero about WBB. Which likely tells you a lot about fan support for WVU WBB...

Which likely tells you a lot about fan support for WVU WBB... All of the discussion I read when Coach P was getting hired were threads in the 247 WVU basketball site: 247sports.com/college/west-virginia/board/basketball-103746/The women's threads are mixed in with the men's. You may have to go back through older threads to find the WBB ones.

So here's WVU's situation: They had 5 super seniors that ran out of eligibility, so were expecting 10 players back. Three players (two of them starters) entered the portal before Dawn was even announced. A fourth player (third starter) entered the portal a day after Dawn was announced. None of them have yet signed with a new school. So they have a roster of 7 now. I don't know what they had that signed LOI, but at this point I think Coach P needs bodies.

At least two of them had their scholarship offers pulled by WVU back in January due to "too many 5th year players coming back". Both were picked up by Pitt. Sounds like a bad decision on WVU's part. What a clusterf#ck. wvsportsnow.com/former-wvu-commit-and-fairmont-native-marley-washenitz-commits-to-pitt/

Which likely tells you a lot about fan support for WVU WBB... They only drew 1,300 fans per game (to our 2,000) in a metro area of ~140,000 people that has no sport options outside of WVU. I'm stunned to hear they don't have a home to discuss the sport...
