Sad day! Hope she made the right decision, but it was probably always a dream.

Makes sense, closer to home and a BIG 10 program. At least they are on the rise compared to WVU. Interesting decision as they have Jazz Shelley, a Jr. next year I think, who starts at the point and was All-Big 10 last year. Good luck to her and thanks for your efforts as a Coyote.

Yeah getting mad over this one is stupid. Under Amy, Nebraska is recruiting and keeping the Nebraska girls at home instead of getting poached by USD/SDSU. We still both still get our fair share, but Weidener was on Maddie's travel team and I am sure she played against Markowski several times. it sucks but you cants fault her for wanting to play there. They will be really good the next few years.

Maddie most likely will see a significant decrease in her playing time. She averaged 31.5 MPG last year for the Yotes. Nebraska only had 1 player average over 30 MPG last year and it was Jaz at 30.9. Comparing stats between Jaz and Maddie don't line up favorably, either. Points per game 13.1 to 6.8, FG% .425 to .359, 3PT% .406 to .308, and rebounds 6.3 to 4.0. Jaz also had 27 more assists on the season but 12 more turnovers. Statistically, it looks like she will be a backup barring any injury or transfer.

Without looking at the stats, I'd guess Maddie is a better defender, though. Defensive ability doesn't always show up on stat sheets. Jacks fans like to point out Kyah's offensive stats to discredit her, without acknowledging her defensive prowess (as an example). I dont' know how Coach Williams wants to use Maddie, but to me she is an elite defender.

The greatest run in Coyote womens basketball is over, and the aftermath of this great season has been disappointing but it’s over. It’s time to hit the reset button. Right now is the lowest point this program will be. From the highest to the lowest in no time flat. Remember this day…..from this day forward it will only get better. We’ve been victimized in the transfer portal but now we are the hunters. The reputation of this program combined with Kayla’s recruiting savvy serves well rebuilding this program quickly.
Don’t be surprised if we land 2-3 kids that are solid players. This basketball program is not going away. In some ways, Maddie’s departure serves Kayla well. It’s now 100% her program. If she pulls a rabbit ( not a Jack ) out of the hat, a couple kids develop and our recruits add immediately, we might not contend next year but the foundation would be built to go after that.
Back this team. Kiya and Maddie were class acts so there’s no reason to bash them. Good luck to them but I won’t be following either. I’ll be following the Coyotes.

Why is everybody writing the team off already? The cupboard definitely isn't bare for Kayla. We had the best bench in the SL last season but we never really had to go to it.

Nobody's writing them off. People are just realistically pointing out that you're returning about 13 points per night on 42 percent shooting, no starters and you lost all your best defensive players is all.

Not sure why this thread is even a thing anymore. Two players who play for other teams, best of luck to each of them and thanks for your 2 years of service. Now it's time to leave them in the annals of Coyote history and move on to the ladies that are currently on the roster and possible portal adds.

Yeah, she looks like an all-around player, then. Might be tough to get minutes behind her, although Coach Williams does actually play her bench.

Probably because people on message boards can choose to discuss whatever interests them. You certainly don't have to post in this thread if you don't want to. Or read it. I can tell you this, though. There is more fan interest in the USD WBB program than the vast majority of mid-majors, and probably a majority of P-5 programs as well. This discussion thread is just one example. There are a few posts I wish were not here, but I'm generally encouraged by how many posters are still active here, long after the season has ended.

There is a lot of truth to what you just said.

I want to know why jackedforlife is still allowed on this site. Typical state fan all big and tough on the internet. Sad that he has to come on here and knock our ladies and men.
