Agree 100% but I'm sure that Coach Nielsen was not going to shoulder that responsibility on another coach if it went south. I commend him for that decision. But, he could let Paopao have major input into the game plan and passing game calls.

Getting paid $313k a year should require some accountability and responsibility for the success of the team. We have had, and currently have, coaches making less than that with sustained success. Just saying..

I too am growing weary of Bob, but in terms of salary $313K per year is cheap. Good luck finding a new great coach for that kind of money.

I would imagine NDSU is way ahead of everyone else in salaries and maybe Missouri State had to pony up for that scumbag Petrino, but I would think/hope we're in line with all the other conference schools.

I think when the OC change happened, Paopao moved upstairs so he could assist Bob with play calling so they had an eye from the booth.

Some thoughts and questions:
What I'm reading on Schlafke is frustrating, but makes sense given the timing. I hope he gets help and recovers.
Not losing Schlafke might have been better for the offense, but it is shocking how much has changed from last season with very little roster turnover. How can we not even get the ball on Bell's hands? Can't we try some sweeps, screens, quick outs etc?
Bob is being exposed without Schlafke just as much as Camp. I know he hasn't called plays in years, but he seems like he has no idea what the offense should be doing or is capable of. Has he been napping during the offensive meetings?
Would retaining Bob give us the best chance at maximizing next season or handicap us? Would it be better to let it be an easier first season for a new coach?
Lastly, we need to just regroup and see this game as the first game of season B. I thought after last season that this program was finally on a tremendous trajectory. Can we regain any of that moment or are we just going to throw in the towel and open up the transfer portal flood gates?

Herbster handled the tough question very well, but might have rambled a little too much which is telling. My translation: "We've done everything we can to enable this coaching staff to succeed and they have been unable to follow up on last year's momentum. Now we must evaluate our options." Bob is once again hanging by a thread.

It's easy to forget that this Coyote team is very young with only 13 seniors on the roster. That certainly bodes well for the future and the future starts Saturday!
GO GET'UM YOTES!!! ATTACK OF THE PACK!!!

Agree with all the above points….what I see is a different philosophy offensively by using the the Double TE as their primary set. I’m all for running the ball but double TE sets only keeps Bell off the field…which is real apparent in the stat line. Getting plays in late is inexcusable. First they had trouble with signals coming in from sideline, now they are signaling in plays and going to huddle? That was a disaster at ISU. With RPO and clap cadence you need a little time on the clock to read the defense and adjust accordingly. Breaking the huddle with 10 seconds is impossible to adjust to any type of defensive scheme. They never had this issue before. I feel we need to utilize the slot position more, easy quick screens to get us in normal down and distance plays. Both Bell and Martens have been outstanding when the get touches. Camp needs to play better but Bob has to give him a chance to see the field before the snap. I think it’s a touch risky to let Bob go at this point… if he can get a decent OC hire he can keep the coaching staff in tact and the roster in tact. We have talent on this roster and we are very young. A good OC hire may be the only thing needed .

On the same page there about Bob. I'm not interested in total rebuild when we have such good things going on the D side of the ball. Let Bob fix the offensive side in the off season by bringing in good O coordinator and revamping that side of the ball. If that doesn't bring results then we can look at a change.
