Lovett was at one point highly regarded. One of his catches was the big play to set up the game-winning field goal against Youngstown.

Assuming this isn’t because of some extenuating circumstance,, and assuming it was his decision, why leave? You have seem the field, you’ve been in the program, and now you have 2 seniors in Roane and Webb graduating and a lot of playing time becoming available, and you leave.

We offered a DB from Youngstown . Maybe pick up a few players to fill in spots. just hope we dont lose too many

There's no doubt we will lose a few in the portal, but the key is not to lose any key contributors or any guys that will be stepping into fill major roles next fall. The opposite side of the portal is that we can fill major gaps that we have in the depth chart moving forward. Gotta love free agency. Definitely need portal help at DB, DL, OL, LB, and at QB to provide quality depth behind Bouman. It's not a volume thing just quality replacement.

Seems relatively encouraging that we haven't had any notable entries to the portal yet. Idaho lost in the playoffs same day we did and had a ton of production enter the portal right away. Starting QB included.
Players have until January 2 to enter the portal. Can transfer at any time, just have to be in by the 2nd.

Was not a starter, but received some decent offers out of the portal. Should at least provide us with some solid depth.

Why no surprise? Is it just because of how crowded our running back room it’s, or something else? No, nothing cryptic. It's just when a guy that talented doesn't play, he's not likely to stick around, especially when the two guys who played ahead of him are returning. When he didn't play much in the playoffs I thought he was gone for sure. I was surprised it took so long for his announcement. He had a major knee injury and also battled a hamstring this year, but when he was healthy he was probably the most electric runner I've seen in a Yotes uniform. But I don't have any other information on what else may have been going on, if anything. |

NIL money is worse than the portal. They go hand in hand. I would like to see the penalty year come back for transferring within the division or up in divisions. I'd also like to see NIL stop being the driving factor in recruiting. NCAA should put a salary cap in place to keep the playing field level |
