May as well start the thread. Anyone with any news on this kind of thing, post it here! As a reminder of a great resource... wbbblog.com/womens-basketball-transfers-d-i-2022-23/So far there are 54 players in the portal in D-I WBB I don't know if we will use the portal this year, but lately most teams do. I think it might be smart to bring in another post player. Don't care what class. Sophomore or Grad Transfer.

I would think we absolutely want to bring in at least one additional post transfer even if it’s just for a season.

I would think we absolutely want to bring in at least one additional post transfer even if it’s just for a season. I think it's an absolute need. Demers has upside but is young and developing. Hard to know what we will get out of Mazurek when she returns. And Hayden has shown nothing.

Abby Beeman, the 5-4 D-II PG we were in the mix for last year ended up staying in West Virginia, attending Marshall. Well.... her coach just got hired by Central Arkansas three days ago... I think she still has a year (or two) of elligibility. Marshall Announces Leadership Change for Women’s Basketball

6’1 Frannie Hottinger just entered the portal, out of Lehigh. She is a Minnesota girl, who put up very good numbers in the post for the past 4 years.

Not that I think that she's necessarily an option for the Yotes, but just to note that first-teamer Tirzah Moore from ORU (along with her sister) is in the portal.

No new news from me, but I just found out that the window for entering the transfer portal is from the start of the tournament to 60 days out. So this year it will be a May 11th deadline. ... so the transfer season is upon us!

Actually, it’s 60 days from selection Sunday. At least, according to the NCAA website. Concerning graduation, women basketball players attend classes in the summer from the time they show up in June before their freshman year. The NCAA requires you to be in summer school for at least your first two summers. They also have a minimum number of credits that they have to take every semester. That’s why a lot of women players are able to graduate in 3 years and then grad transfer for their fourth year of eligibility.

I mean, I understand they have summer workouts etc, so taking classes is a good idea in many cases, but why require it? Just curious.

It goes back to somewhere around eight years ago, when they started allowing athletes to be on campus all summer. Before that, they had extremely limited windows of practice the time during the summer.
