I don't necessarily think that USD is the better team. North Dakota just won at UC-Davis where Poly lost. UND has one road win to zero for USD. Considering that UND is the home team they are a definate favorite so if the Yotes win it will be a definate upset.

There is one aspect that could give this game to the Yotes. If the game is on the line and it comes down to one pass to Will Powell I am betting 100% of my money that Powell comes down with it if the pass is within 10 feet of him.

i would agree with you coyotefan, Will Powell and the passing game as a whole has looked great lately. Watching Dante out at Poly, until he left, his throws were mostly right on target and he was finding guys. Same thing last week vs S&T. That hand must be completely healed and he must have the touch back on the ball.
I'd say Will and Dusty Nowotny and Jeremy Blount could have huge days. Sioux have done well against the run this year.

Bottom Line - Coyotes Win!
Keys will be:
Coaches have to have 4 game plans and make UND adjust to our adjustments. Offense use lateral motion to shift their defense, create angles with slants and curls, and use all 3 areas of the field. Their LBs will be so busy, Marcus will rip off runs for 6 to 8 yards minimum. Defense subbing early and often to keep these guys fresh to keep the beat down going. Offensive line has to use speed to truly take advantage of their size.
Players overall must take ownership in this last battle for state pride. The big plays will develop out of fundamentals, techniques, and maintaining your responsibilities. Yes, man for man, the Yotes are better. This is about being the better team. If USD is not up by 4 TDs, don't think UND is going to quit. They have all the same motivation points as USD plus it's at their house.
This should be a repeat of last week's score!

Don't we wish this were that easy. If it was the Yotes would be coming into this game as conference champs already and hoping for an outright title.
Something kind of came to mind when I was watching the SF Roosevelt vs SF Washington championship game last week. I have never seen a team have such wide splits such as what the Rough Riders displayed in that game with their o-line. Their lineman were a good 3 feet or more from each other in their stances. It made them be able to spread the field. I really liked what they did.
I really think USD needs to learn how to use their best skilled players in the best ways. The Yotes are stacked at wide receiver and never get these guys the ball in open space. Where USD is better athletically than UND is at that receiver position.
Why not line up Powell, Nowotny and Blount at the minimum on 80% of the downs. I can't see the Sioux being able to stop it. Meierkort seems to be in too big of love with power formations. Run Blount on the quick hitches and bubble screens. Make Nowotny the intermediate route runner and allow Powell to get down field. If the protection is struggling check off to the first two guys and if it is there or even if it's not allow Warren to use his mobility to keep the play alive. I actually like 4 receiver sets the best with a single setback in Sims. The #4 reciever can also act as a wingback as well if needed. I kind of like Blount in that role. I venture Williams would be the #4 receiver.
Drdank you are so correct in the notion of having multiple game plans. It seems like once the Yotes original gameplan doesnt work they always get outcoached and out adjusted. Meierkort or Beschorner or whoever is responsible for this needs time to get these game plans ready. If it means getting other coaches on the practice field so be it but strategically the Yotes need to be better. Meierkort has said on multiple occassions on interviews that the Yotes weren't ready for what was being thrown at them. He even said that about Missouri S&T. There is no excuse for not being prepared for what another team might do. Meierkort seems too preoccupied on the predicable and when the predictable doesn't happen he is up a crick without a paddle.
From top to bottom player to player I truley believe that USD is the most skilled team in the Great West. We've got to use that skill to the best of our ability.

I'll just go with a simple thing called confidence.
With any competition, whether it be football or chess, confidence is often the deciding factor - the stuff winning teams have. Confidence comes from many sources, but most of all it is preparation combined with ability.
Luck is a factor, too. But I don't want to go there because officiating seems to be tied to this.
Mental toughness/preparation is often overlooked until you look at the perspective of the individual player. If you don't get my drift, pretend it is you out there.
Here's hoping the Yotes do not need any luck to win. Just confidence.

What a horrible call on that fumble. Warren was lying on the ground when it was stripped.

Anybody tried listening online and watching on TV - are the times synced? The TV announcers are hard to listen to.

I don't know but if I'm Ed I'm playing this one under protest. Clearly not a fumble on that scoop and score for UND and TStarr clearly stripped that ball and recovered but the refs gave it to UND. These officials are horrible.

Yotes looking real good - up 34 -17 at the half - were it not for the bogus fumble call would be up 34 -10 - offense yards in Yotes favor about 270 to 70
