I am going to forego posting about the football team until everyone else has had a chance to voice their opinion first. The season is over. Yes, thank goodness this season is over. Not a success at all. Right now I could care less about next year. Most of the alumni will just say: "Oh well, same old Coyotes. If we win a few home games and beat State 1 out of 5 it will be OK." Well, this 'alum' really has a lot of better things to do. I have had some fun for a few years now but it is getting to the point where it is just not worth the aggravation and disappointment anymore. Mr. CF please feel free to get a hold of me if this program ever truly becomes good. I'll become a 'fair weather fan' and get back on the bandwagon. In the mean time I won't be holding my breath.

It was pretty clear that USD had better players than UND. I don't know how UND won that game but they are not as talented as USD. If we played 10 times USD wins 8.
I am certainly not going to gloat about UND after that game. I think Ed has the talent and his recruiting appears to be good. Just a couple more plays and the Yotes easily win that one.

I lost all my rep points on this board when I predicted another road loss.
When will you all wake up? There are serious issues with this program. Inability to win on the road and epic collapses are the result of coaching problems.
For three quarters I saw superb athletes playing with amazing intensity. We have the most talented players in the league and an NAIA coaching staff that has no clue how to coach for a full 4 quarters.
Next year we will be a 2-9 team.
I'm sick of this board ignoring the problems and squashing anyone who tries to bring a little objectivity to the discussion. What do we say now?
the only hope I have is that I trust the decision making ability of David Saylor. Lets see what changes are made now. This cannot be considered a successful season.
I'm so sick and its not because of the ugliest green uniforms I've ever seen in my life.

Hadley - not disagreeing with you, but what are the coaching problems? What happens in the 4th quarter? Frustrating.

I lost a long message I was working on but what we saw today was an abrupt culmination of what we have been seeing for years. The Coyotes almost never play well in the crunch time of football games and to an extreme extent rarely win games that are decided on the last possession or two of a football game. When a program basically never wins those games it makes it very difficult to substain success.
There is only one contant in all of this and it's Meierkort himself. My gosh to be given the talent that is on this roster this year and to not be able to go at least 8-3 is mind boggling. This is as exerienced and senior laden of a team as we will ever see. It's not going to get much better when it comes to the players we have at our disposal. Tyler Starr is a blessing to this team. Will Powell is a blessing to this team. They might both be in the NFL some day.
I have been saying this over and over until I am blue in the face and people think I am crazy for saying what I say. I want this program to succeed as much as anyone. The intangibles are just not there the built in confidence is just not there.
I am very good friends with SD4ever as of the past couple of years. I will tell you he is a great guy. I talk to him on the phone and we share our thoughts on all things Coyotes. We have never met in person and I appreciate his support.
So we move onto the off season. There could be no better year than to start over RIGHT NOW and SD4ever wanted me to bring this up. We are losing so many players so there is a big opportunity for a new administration to come in at the exact perfect time. We are going to struggle either way next year so why not restore hope in Coyote football now to give us a chance in 2013 or 2014. There will be a new QB to break in as well as many positions that will be up for grabs. If there has to be a spot to instill a new system it's really the perfect time.
I want so badly to be able to have pride once again and know that our football team can be trusted in a tough spot.

I don't know what to say. Actually, I do but I will try to cool down a bit. It isn't my call and I'm not calling for it but I hope Sayler really takes a deep deep long look at the program from the top down.

Hadley - not disagreeing with you, but what are the coaching problems? What happens in the 4th quarter? Frustrating. there are some folks on this board that have much better better football minds than I do, so I'm interested in hearing their analysis. However, this is what I'm seeing: -extremely talented athletes -a team that does not win on the road -2 epic collapses in important conference games I don't think anyone will dispute these facts. Season to season, the circumstances are not always the same, but I've been very disappointed in the results achieved with outstanding athletes in the last 2 years. So... using principles of logic, if we have the talent, but continue to under-achieve, I'm left with: a coaching problem. Please, I'm not trying to be Mr. Negative, but I'm seeing systemic issues that are beyond blaming DI transition growing pains. looking forward to reading others opinions on this in a constructive debate. Did I mention that I think the athletes are tremendous? On defense, the first man to the ball made the tackle almost every time. That was fantastic to watch.

I share the frustration. Probably most frustrating is how close we came to having a fantastic season. If (and granted it is a huge if) we don't have the Cal Poly & UND games blow up in our face, we would be singing a whole different tune. We were so damn close to getting over the hump this year.
However, I disagree with your statement regarding the talent given to Ed to coach. None of the talent was given to him. These are all players Ed recruited. Too be able to attract that level of talent to the Yotes is a real strength of Ed & the coaching staff.

Interestingly this program is on the brink quite a bit but they have a tendency to self destruct. A loss is a loss whether it's a 48-7, or 38-37 giving up a huge lead in the 4th quarter.
Ed said it himself just within the past couple of week. "Stats are for losers". It's truley sad for a program to continually come up short in the important moments of a game. Isn't it also ironic that Ed stressed before the season that the team had to learn to finish games.

I've been holding my two cents a bit now just so they weren't clouded over by the enormous letdown we all wen through today. How many of you started to get "that" feeling when UND scored their first TD in the fourth quarter? Anyway... I don't know what happened on the sideline and I don't know what was being said over the headphones. What I do think, because again I really don't know, is that Ed has very little to do with the game on Saturdays. I think that, like any teacher, he let's his students, that being his coaches, gain experience by doing. I don't know if at what point he's seen enough and feels the need to take the clipboard away and try to right the ship. Maybe he never does - thinking the only way his coaches will not make the same mistakes is to let them learn the hard way. Well,it appears that none of them have learned anything.

Well as I said earlier there is only one common entity of this program and that is pretty much Meierkort. The players and assistants have changed but the same weaknesses remain the same. No matter how you want to slice it, it always filters down to the same person and that is Ed. No one else is ultimately responsible.

I'll say it and I hate to say it because I like him but it's time for a change. I've seen this movie too many times. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of the collapses. I've had enough. No reason on earth we shouldn't have won this game by 20+ points. The road losses, I've had it. I'm done.
