still no news on this on any of the media outlets. I will not comment until something is confirmed. I have to work until 9PM tonight but will hardly be able to concentrate now.

Still not sure if I agree with the decision to let Ed go, but have to applaud Sayler for making a prompt decision. The search process for the new coach needs to be thorough but also completed ASAP to not hurt the recruiting process too much.

I wanted to keep Ed. With that said, Sayler call University of St. Thomas and don't take no for an answer.

Dave Brown from Kelo just tweeted that the decision was NOT based about on field performance. Interesting.

Why would you fire someone who has dOne so much for your school in Justine last few years

I don't buy that, this move has to do with on field performance. I know Coach Ed was on the hot seat coming into this season and had to perform. Coaching is a results business, every coach knows that, including Ed. Every coach knows that they are just renting that position until the day comes when they leave for another job or get fired.
All this said you know why this happened. It was results. The program needs results. USD is about to dump a whole butt ton of money into the Arena/Dome project. Saylor wants a winner and he's gonna get it.

I'm going to add that I'm sad to see this happen. I liked Ed. I wish things would have turned out differently this year. We all do. I know he'll land on his feet somewhere because he is a good coach.

I'm not happy to hear this news. I liked Ed immensely and will miss him on the sidelines. If Ed is done then I would assume that his staff is gone too. I don't imagine any of his assistants will get an interview. So I wonder if Sayler has someone in mind or if there will truly be a "search".

Have to say I'm really surprised this happened but apparently there's probably more to the story then we know(most of us know). I would hope Sayler has someone in mind because this is prime time for recruiting. If players start to decommit USD could end up with a tough class and essentially another rebuilding process.
Good luck with the search.

It'll be interesting to see who's on the short list for this job. New conference, close rivals, and a AD who wants to win. I haven't been on campus for a while but how do/will the facilities stack up against the rest of the conference teams in the future?
