I don't care about the ESPN part but I would certainly hope that the goal would be to win games.
I really don't see what the big deal is here. The team was not playing good enough to win as of late. When a team starts 5-2 and ends 2-9 isn't that just cause to at least question what is going on. No matter how much or how little a person knows about volleyball or sports in general the puprose of playing is to win games. USD has not been doing a very good job of that.
There are two trains of thought. Those that think there is no possible way that Houk is a not great coach. There is also a second train of thought that wants to see him prove himself a little more before making a judgement. A 2-9 finish certainly doesn't excude greatness to me. Young players, injuries or whatever you want to label it, it's still not winning matches. Chances are the team will be better next year than they are this year but there is no guarantee to that.
I just simply want to see more before handing out any gold medals. Is there anything wrong with that.

I just simply want to see more before handing out any gold medals. Is there anything wrong with that. The fact is you have no idea how much he has raised the program. To have a coach with a winning record is actually unheard of in this program, plain and simple. He has evalated the level of play for this team every year. Honestly, you ask for the other teams to improve and then you go back on your word with this. To be competitive in the Summit League in the first year is a lot to ask, and Houk did that with a program that wasn't competitive in the NCC. That's a lot of work, and more work than you know of CoyoteFan. That's why we are telling you that you are so ignorant about it. It's not always about wins and loss, it's also how you see the team grow and improve. If everything was about wins and losses, Boise State would have four titles right now because they have the most wins in the NCAA in the last five years out of every program if I am correct. How many titles do they have? Wait, more goes into than wins and losses...huh. Please stop the ignorance, plain and simple LakesCoyote.

What do you mean I have "gone back on my word". I didn't know I gave my word to anything regarding the volleyball program.
Let me ask you this CF#1. Are you so absolutely convinced that Houk is a good coach that you would predict a Summit League title next year or for sure the year after that.
Lay your prediction out there right now. What will the volleyball team finish next year. I will predict 4th place. If I am so uniformed you should easily be able to predict more accurately as to place of finish that what I just did.
Also a question to everyone. This goes to any program but lets use volleyball as an example.
Which team would you rather watch.
Team A: One that has an overall team GPA of 2.6, has issues with taking big chunks of matches off where the energy level isn't very high and wins the Summit League with a 16-2 record and makes it to the third round of the NCAA tournament. This team also has a history of not really getting along off the court but is extremely talented in their sport.
Team B: A team with a 3.1 GPA, plays hard nearly every set, and scraps for nearly everything they get. They get along very well off the court. This team finishes in 6th place in the Summit at 8-10 but isn't a very talented team on the court but the athletes get along very well off the court and are generally friends.

Your two teams have nothing to do with USD volleyball.
And I have already said USD will compete for a Summit League title and I think Houk can lead this team to a title in two years, maybe even next year. Houk has already proved he is a quality coach.
You back up on your word because you complain about how you feel the players and coaches for the football team don't so effort every play. You say that you want to see progress with the football team.
The volleyball shows just that and you throw them under the bus for continually making this program better each and every match.
If you knew anything about USD volleyball, or volleyball, or sports, then you would know what's going on.

Coyotefan "Houke may or may not be a good coach but I don't want to hear about how good of a coach he is until he starts proving it the win loss column. It's not like the Summit League is the Pac 10 of volleyball."
This statement about Pac 10 volleyball alone tells me all I need to know about your knowledge of volleyball. Yote4ever sticks up for you and makes excuses for you. You have no excuse. What so called fan of a University makes such declarative comments about sports they have no idea about, what so called fan constantly bashes their University, administration, athletes and other fans, what so called fan starts a forum called "The Coyote Darkside" and again bashes the University, administration, athletes, and other fans, what so called fan goes to a rival message board (sdsu) and declare themselves to be a rabbit fan? Probably my last post for a while. I enjoy sports, criticism and banter about my favorite team but the mood created and fostered by CF leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I leave with this. CF, stop being so short sighted and obtuse. I will always support USD and will probably be back. Go Yotes.

Yoteforever certainly does not stick up for me or make excuses for me. Have you read what he has written lately.
How about this one Pierre Yote. If you critisize me for being critical and only bring up the negative why don't you post more often in response to some of the posts that I make that you do like or are maybe seen in a more positive light. Do you ever do that. Afterall I am an equal opportunity poster. Why don't you be an equal opportunity responder.

I don't argue with a crazy person or a fool because onlookers may not be able to tell the difference.

Regardless what people think of me I have my own set of morals and I don't personal attack. I just simply like to debate things in a forum and that is that. I don't take it to the petty level like a few of you seem to like to do.
