I know Mick mentioned it in his chat today, but I did confirm with a pretty good source that we will be playing New Mexico to take the place of the Cal game.

New Mexico State? We should be going into this game expecting to get a win. Horrible Sun Belt team.

I hope it is New Mexico over State. If it is on the 24th that will give the Yotes a couple of weeks to get used to Nielsen's live in game coaching. I would much rather play a program that the Yotes can compete with rather than a team like K-State or Wisconsin where the chances of winning are a long shot. The Big, Big schools are nice but we have now done that a few times and it's time to start scheduling winnable FBS games. I personally will be more excited about this game than I was about K-State this year.

Take the 4 game home schedule every year and fill the pockets with plenty of money. As far as the chances of making the playoffs, of course that should be secondary to the opportunity to make big bucks.

Do we really heave to go down the route of explaining why one paycheck game against a power conference school is the most reasonable way to go?

We probably got a payout from Cal for them cancelling on us that makes it easier budget wise to schedule a lower FBS school. I'm sure somebody like Yoteforever knows more about that subject. I can ask around too.

Of course budget it important and that is why maybe the Yotes should play 3 FBS games a year instead of just one. Imagine the money that the program would receive for that. Of course they wouldn't be making the playoffs but that hasn't really been an option for USD football anyway so nothing lost but alot to be gained. Could you imagine the die hards and how happy they would be if they could see the Yotes play at California, at Nebraska and at Texas in the same year. That would be awesome. How much could be gained from that. Maybe a million or a million and a half.
