Happy to see UND back on the schedule. We should be playing them annualy, every other year at the bare minimum.
Hope they have Sitting Bull ready for his return home to USD.

Great schedule addition, and yes it should be an annual slot (hint, hint MVFC/Summit).
Is Sitting Bull Trophy in play? or must we wait for daddy to say we can go out and play?

I guess I didn't see it anywhere on the message board, but Mick was saying in his chat today that we will have Cal on the schedule in 2016? If so, looking forward to another trip out West.

Is that so? This is the first I've heard of a possible game with Cal. As far as I knew our future FBS games were Kansas State in 2015 and Iowa State in 2020.

Per Mick's weekly chat... The 2016 game is very near being announced. Not sure it's any big scoop or anything but it looks like they'll open at Cal that year.

Looks like our 2015 schedule is set. We are traveling to Kansas State to open the season, then to UC Davis, hosting Drake, then our 8 game conference slate. Only allowed 11 games in 2015.
In 2016 we are set to play Cal (with a $550k buyout, even bigger than the Oregon one), and have a trip to Grand Forks. Not sure if this one is a 11 or 12 game year.

As for me, I like the variety and geographic locations. So who all decides which teams we play and which ones we don't? I know that a lot of it is on D. Herbsters' shoulders and I'm sure that the head coaches have a say in this but is there anyone else that is a key decision maker in signing these deals?

I'm fairly certain that for the next three years we will have an 11 game schedule.
Regarding future schedules, the AD makes all the decisions but most will consult with the head coaches. Unfortunately playing the big guys is something that we have to do for a couple of reasons. First, obviously for budgetary reasons. We aren't efficient enough to raise the dollars from fans, boosters, and ticket sales...so we are forced to go this route. That being said, remember when we okay Cal it will cost us probably in the vicinity of $100,000 to travel. Then we have to turn around and pay Drake $35,000 or so to come play us in Vermillion, so it's a continuous give and take with dollars.
If the rest of the Big 5 conferences follow Barry Alvarez's suggestion, and thus far the Big 10 is following it to a T, and not play FCS schools, we are going to have further budget issues. I don't think that will come to fruition, but it may. That's why you need an AD with a good business sense.

I believe Drake is a home and home. We will be going to Des Moines in the future. SDSU is paying them 180k to open up their new stadium.

That would explain why it's so low. I thought it was a 1 game deal. Easy D1 win on the road for you guys though! Or at least it should be!
