Regardless of any suspended players returning, I would expect to see greater playing time for many of these boys. What do we know about this? Do we know why they are suspended or when or if we can expect them back?

I will say the same thing I said last year: I will be stunned if we finish that low. (PS - the only thing we know for sure about the representation is that is not equal. Zim votes, Mick doesn't. But I think this plays into our hands.) Wow Mick doesn't vote did not know that, why doesn't he vote? Mick probably would have voted us 5th anyway. He always seems down on the Yotes. I'm fine with SDSU being preseason #1. They have almost everyone back and they were playing good ball at the end of the year. If I recall, it seemed that a lot of teams had a bunch of talent returning.

Why does anyone care if SDSU fans are giving the Yotes respect? It's not like we don't end up playing them and a bunch of other same teams from the conference. If we beat them and do well in the conference then I'm sure we'll earn their respect, if not, then we probably won't and we'll look foolish for bitching about not having it after the first two games of the year. Having the respect of the opposing fans doesn't really do us any good in the win/loss column.
The fact of the matter is we haven't finished over .500 in conference yet. It's tough to bitch too much about not having the proper respect. Hopefully we will earn it this year.

I don't think anything was in place and I don't think the players meeting was called so he could tell them he was leaving. I think the meeting was called so he could tell them he wasn't going anywhere. I think Charlie hit the nail on the head. The reporter tried to make an educated guess so he could be the first one to break the story just in case he was right. I don't doubt for a second that Drake did offer him the job. To piggy back off what Cousin Eddie was saying, I think the most growth we might see in the offseason could be from Hagedorn and Peterson. I would like to see Peterson develop a better outside shot and Hagedorn to develop a more back to the basket game. Sure would be nice to see him add about 15 pounds of muscle.

I thought it was crazy when I first heard the news. Not that he's not deserving, but that I thought he'd be around a couple more years. I still assume he'll just use this as leverage for a new contract, but maybe he wants to get out when his team is doing well. It's going to be tough to win in Sioux Falls against Daum and the SDSU crowd for at least the next couple of years and he has to think about that. I think fans should be hammering him for a message to the University that he's staying. I also wonder if this will hurt recruiting at all considering he'll likely be gone in the next couple of years. Likely the same thing can be said about Otzelberger and that's the worst thing about being a mid-major. Thing is, he doesn't need to worry about jumping before a possible dip in his team's performance because he returns so much young talent. He's not skipping town because the cupboard is coming bare. It's gotta be either leverage or legitimate interest. Does anyone actually know his contract situation? If he is still on a single year contract then we have to do something about that. I do believe he's on a single year contract. This is more than leverage. We are in big trouble of losing him.

Damn CF, seems a little harsh. Not that good this year? Time for AJ to move on? The lofty projections for state this year was when they had the best player in the conference on their team. When she got hurt the outlook changed. They finished a game out of first and 2nd round of nit. Maybe not what they were hoping for but it wasn't terrible. I wish AJ would move on, he's a good coach. I think both USD and state will be better next year.

I'm surprised Colorado made it this year. They didn't have a very good year, very poor conference record. If we manage to beat Iowa we will be playing State.

Just compared the articles written by the Argus after the defeat of the two SD teams... "Hawkeyes' Strong Second Half Dooms Coyotes" vs "Gonzaga Surges in Second Half to Beat SDSU" Ok... maybe I'm reading these headlines through rose colored lenses, but does it sounds like, from reading these two headlines, that the Yotes never had a chance and Gonzaga had to really turn it up to beat the bunnies? In both games the SD teams were down by 4 at the half... Happy to receive criticism if it's just the way I am interpreting this... Guessing the bunny posters will be appearing on here soon to let us know how wrong we all are again and point out that only they can watch basketball with objectivity. I don't take any slight from the headlines, but that's just me.

Howell just got called for a charge for doing the same thing that he did to Peterson, that I was bitching about. He just tried to bull his way to the basket, and the refs had to say "you can't do that, that is a charge." Howell was left there thinking "shit, they let us get away with that all night in the semi's of the SLT."

State sure is hanging tough, and they aren't even knocking down any shots. Hell, they have a fair amount of turnovers too. I think they missed an opportunity to have a little bit of a lead here at half. I can't imagine Gonzaga plays that poorly in the second half. However, like I said, State has played far from a perfect game as well.

OMG!!!! Daum just got called for his first ever charging foul!!!! Hopefully Summit league refs took note that you can call a charge on him. I hope he tries to run some people over and see how that goes for him. My guess is it won't go quite as well for him as it does with Summit officials.

By the way iowaguy, thanks for coming here and wanting to engage in two way talk about the game. Good stuff. Thanks, I always enjoy hearing things from another perspective. I know every fanbase has its............degenerates. Good luck to you guys. I really think it's going to be a helluva game. Really looking forward to the game. I've been an Iowa fan since the days of BJ Armstrong, Roy marble, and Ed Horton. Iowa was playing really good at the end of the year, minus the big 10 tourney. Obviously we need an off game from Iowa in order to pull this off. Iowa might not be Kentucky but they aren't Rutgers either. Iowa has had some really successful teams. I will be shocked if they aren't in the big dance the next several years.

I'm pretty sure I and some other fans have mentioned the free throw shooting. Peterson makes just the 1st free throw and I think we win. Honestly, I'm getting tired of excuses. Yotes are probably a 5 point better team and shouldn't have even gotten to that point. Letting Howell back his way down easily for 4 straight buckets and Orris playing exceptional is what doomed the Yotes. They beat us. It's a game. It's over. I must take a little exception with Howell backing down easily. Peterson tried to hold his ground but Howell just kept pushing him back (which you aren't allowed to do by the way). If Peterson would have held his ground any harder he would have been called for a foul. It was a tough position to be in. Our biggest mistake might have been still attacking the basket when it was clear they would not call a foul on State. We should have settled for more jumpers. What's the definition of insanity again? No excuses, when playing State in the SLT you know that you will need to be 10 points better. We were only 9 points better. If we don't like it, then be 10 or 11 points better than them next year.

Drake doesn't offer scholarships do they? Or is that just in football? That's just Football. Basketball has scholarships. If Smith was to ever get that job it appears he would double his salary. That's not an inconsequential amount of money. The team would be a step down. The league would be a step up. The pay would certainly be a step up. I hope others are right, that he would hold out for the potential of a bigger step up in a couple of years. He does seem to genuinely like coaching this team.

Please God no. Does anyone know what the coach at Drake was making?
