2-1 through the toughest 3 game stretch of the regular season with a commanding victory in Fargo? Gut. Checked. It's downhill from here on the last 4 games and I won't be surprised to see the team win out on the way to Sioux Falls (won't be surprised to see us win out there either!) With all due respect, the all downhill from here comment is, like playing prevent defense in football. We have to keep our foot on the gas or someone will sneak up on us and take us out of the spot we want to be in. I've seen this movie before. I CERTAINLY don't want to sound negative, but we need to go "balls out" every night, no matter the opponent. I think Coach Smith will prevent the guys from the "downhill" trap. No Doubt. When 3 of your 4 losses are to: Oral Roberts, UNO, and SDSU there is no such thing as all downhill. We have obviously proven that we can beat anybody and lose to anybody. There is no guarantee win for us. If we don't play well anybody in the conference can beat us.

I see Hagedorn only got 6 minutes. Is he not able to play with Flack or what? Hagedorn was probably our 2nd best player when Flack was out, but has never done much when Flack is playing. A big part of that is because of lack of minutes when Flack is playing, but I'm sure part of the reason he gets less minutes when Flack is playing is because we don't get near the production out of Hagedorn that we do when Flack isn't available. It just seems he's more tentative. I think when we didn't have Flack, Tyler knew that we had to rely on him, so he had no choice but to be aggressive. I think just about everybody would sign up for one win on this road trip at this point. State seems to have pulled their shit together now as well.

Thank God Flack was back, just in time. I don't see how we get that win without him. We sure do play a lot of close games. We are going to have to figure out a way to sneak some games on the road. Everybody in the conference seems so evenly matched. There is not a first round matchup that I would by dying to have right now. I don't think any of the seeds will be settled going into that last week, besides maybe NDSU at the #1. I have a feeling that anything from 2-7 will be at play for us going into the last week. Hopefully we can figure out a way to still get good production out of Hagendorn now that Flack is back, we sure didn't get it last game. Peterson played one of his better games though. He does a lot of little things that go unnoticed.

I understand that he's a role player (and a damn good one) but I would love to see Carlton Hurst get more touches. It seems like he's always a last option and is only getting shots on fastbreak dunks and at the end of the shot clock when no-one else is open. He shoots 50%+ from the field and from 3pt and never takes a bad shot. Curious as to what others think. I have wondered myself why Hurst doesn't get more shots. Over 50% from 3 point range. Points are really tough to come by now days for the Yotes. It just doesn't seem that we have that many scoring threats. Thank God WIL couldn't handle the press. Road wins are going to be tough to come by. We are going to have to sneak a few of them and hold serve at home. Our FT shooting is going to give me a stroke. It will be the death of us. Does anyone have a time table on Flack? We could really use him.

Man this hurts. Feels like we should be 5-0 in conference. Lost two heartbreakers. At least I feel we got a fair shake tonight, which is more than I can say for our game in brookings. Is Mooney hurt, it looked like he was limping all game. Also, did Sparks get hurt or benched?

NDSU is now favored by 2. This is a huge game. I'm not a student anymore, but I was hoping there would be a lot of hype on campus. I was thinking there might be since I was seeing tweets about it and advertisements for free shirts, dome dogs, etc. We really need to create a homecourt advantage tonight. We need to hold serve at home. I think we win a close one. We have been surprisingly successful in close games for a team that doesn't seem to be a very good FT shooting team. Any of you students who are reading this need to round up as many of your buddies as you can find to get them there tonight.

We will need more help from the home crowd than what we have had to this point in order to win these next two home games. The students have been on break, hopefully that is the only reason the crowd has been lacking in conference play so far. The fans that we did have, came to life late in the IUPUI game and it made a big difference. The new arena can get loud, but we need to get some more fans there, and we need a strong showing from the students as they bring the majority of the noise. To have any chance to win the conference we have to win our home games, and the two toughest home games we will have is our next two. We need to create a true home court advantage. IPFW and NDSU are probably considered the favorites to win the conference. I think it would be too early to drop Denver and IUPUI out of consideration. IUPUI has had two close road losses at two of the best teams in the conference. The final score was not indicative of how close our game was with them.

There are a whole slew of talented players that sat out last season that will be playing next season. Stands to reason some starters from this past season see the writing on the wall with their minutes being cut or losing starting jobs and are transferring out because of it. Yote 53 is actually right on here. No need for alarm. He was not going to be a starter next year. It would have been nice to have him for some added depth though.

Go read the thread on SDSUFans.com and you will note that the few who chimed in (go ahead, count the number of actual posters) were focused on the lack of news and any formal confirmation that Hansen was hired by USD. I think that's a fair point and I commented on it. I think there is one Jackrabbit fan who is riled up but he's more riled up about having stated that there was no formal confirmation of the hiring of an assistant coach and then he got jabbed a little (perhaps deserved) by a couple of USD posters. So, one riled guy doesn't tell the story of a group of people (if it did, where does that leave posters on this board when, for example, Coyotefan tips over?) JackJD is actually right. There seemed to be 2 fans that didn't want to believe it and refused to believe the USD poster, but for the most part people seemed to be supportive of Austin's decision to work for USD. They had pretty good things to say about Austin from what I can tell. I know he was a great player, I hope he is as good of a coach. Does anyone know whether we have any more than just one scholarship to give out for next year. I hear that's all we have. Is that true?
