I know there is unlimited tailgating in the day of the game lots but they are nowhere near the actual tailgating area and sutdent tailgating area that its spread out too far. It kills the atmosphere. I have yet to see anyone tailgate in those spots during a game and it does not help create a good atmosphere for game day. The only other lot I have seen tailgating in is the grass lot over by the student tailgating section. We also have an older couple that parks next to us only for the parking spot not to tailgate. Thats tough to manage but I would hope when signing people up for these spots we are asking some questions to place people in areas that makes the most sense. If we do not get some consistency in what we are trying to do tailgating and allow more people to have season pass tailgating spots the atmosphere will die in a hurry. I feel like it has lost a little from last year already. We are not at the point to turn people away from season tailgating spots is what I was trying to say in my previous post. Which has happened to multiple people I know alone regardless of if they can tailgate in a spot 3 parking lots away behind a fence.

I know that some of the responses here are a little extreme. On one hand it's nice to see some passion from our fanbase. (We havent always had that and need more of it) On the other hand if we are going to say Glenn does not have what it takes anymore by looking at the record alone I feel that is unfair.
The program is so far behind other MVFC teams simply becuase of the transition process. It takes so long to get the revenue stream on the same level as other teams in the confernece. Some of that falls on the conference and NCAA profit sharing that hasnt stated yet, and the rest is on the University for not putting money into the program. It's tough to recruit a kid that is getting multiple in person visits from other schools in the conference but because of our lack of funding we can only make phone calls.
The other problem I have is game day atmosphere. Our announcer is horrible. He allows the dome to sit there and talk about the crops for 60 minutes. Play more music between time outs and quarter breaks. Quit having a subway sandwhich and coffee cup race on the video board at the end of the 3rd quarter. Maybe tell fans to get on their feet more than 3 times a game by playing music and things to get them involved. All of that lands on the Unversity. Create a better game day atomopshere. A lot of that starts by getting rid of the people in game day positions that have done those jobs for the past 30 years and do not create a D1 atmosphere or mindset on gamedays.
Quit restricting the number of people that can get tailgating spots. We should be begging people to come down and tailgate not turning them away because we are saying our spots are sold out. (some to the Republican Party so Rounds can have his bus there on Ddays for 3 hours and then it sits empty for the other 5 games) This also lands on the University. Game day atmosphere is significantly better in the other Dakota schools because they are not making these mistakes.
Glenn is doing a lot right now for the program and taking a lot of heat while doing it. I agree Wes needs to go. we need to hire better assistants by giving better salaries. This is not an FBS program. Glenn does not have as much control over the assistants as you think. He is handcuffed a little bit on these issues. Keep Glenn. The game has not passed him by. He just does not have the resources to do what he needs to do right now in Vermillion. My opinion almost all of the assistants need to go. Bring in some better talent at the assistant coaching positions. Pump some money into the program and make the right decisions with assistants that are not hand me down past players and family friends. I also agree telling donars to quit giving until there are changes only sets the program back further.
We have a good following for games for losing as much as we have in the past couple years. In 2012 when SDSU played Eastern Illinois in a home playoff game there were 4,300 fans at the game. Whats that going to look like when they have a 19,000 seat stadium and there are 4,300 fans for a big game like that in Nov. We have done a much better job supporting the Univesity right now through some bad times in a much smaller community.
Its easy for NDSU to travel like they do when they are undefeated and the 3 time defending champion. It's easy to follow your team when they are winning. How many fans traveled for NDSU when they were 3-8 in 2009? In the early 2000's they averaged around 11,000 fans at games. We need to continue to support the football program even if they have not provided results yet. If we abandon them now with donar money etc, would be a major setback. I do like that we are finally getting passionate about what we want done. We need more of it.

I agree. Yote fans need to do everything we can to show we are just as passionate about our program as the other 2 schools in the Dakotas. I will be sending an email as well. Good call and nice work olifer.

I agree 1959coyote. I have heard a lot of bad things about his attitude from last season already. This type of attitude is not acceptable period. Especially with the type of program Smith is building. Send him down the road and free up a scholarship for someone that wants to be there.

So what is the new plan then? (timeframe, cost, and when details are expected to be released). Or are we so far out from it happening (5 to 10 years) that we do not even have a plan yet.

I wasnt stating to shout that the dome renovation was on hold. Sorry if that was confusing. My point is that all of the information for the arena plans and now dome renovations are impossible to find. It was not until recently after they already broke ground on the arena that plans where really made clear and placed on the website. And there was a period from 2012 unitl last march when they announced the groundbreaking until when they actuall broke ground that nothing new came out.
State has been much more transparent with their stadium. Its all out on the table. They have been significantly more clear on their plans. It seems to make it a lot easier to create excitement and raise money.
Almost everyone I know has no idea about what the renovations to the dome look like and all entail. They were also under the same thought as myself that its going to happen with the arena and be completed before the Fall of 2016. If thats not the case then how are we going to raise money for the dome renovations if no one knows what they are giving money for or what the plans are? Or if the general public assumes the money is already raised and being completed with the arena. If the dome renovation was always seperate then why not make that public as well. The way we have handled the whole situation is really interesting.
How much does the university even need to raise to get the dome renovations completed? $10, 100,000, 1,000,000? whats the goal? whats the timeframe for getting it done. (2020, 2025, 2030)
Without the renovations to the dome and more importantly to the locker rooms etc happening it will be almost impossible for us to turn out a product that competes in the MVFC.

Whats the word on when the Dakotadome renovations will start. Are they truly on hold? I would imagine they need to wait until the basketball season is over in April 2016 before they could start anything and not sure there would be enough time to get that type of work done by the start of the football season in Fall 2016.
What is the timeline for the renovations and what are the current final plans for the renovations? I have heard end zone seating and permanent seating on the west side. Why is the university so secretive about all of this. Tough to get excited and expect people to give without knowing anything about it. In my opinion it should not be this hard to find this information. The school should be sreaming it.

The last information I saw has the Dome renovations happening alongside the arena construction and from my understanding would be completed prior to Fall 2016. When did this change? I agree without an updated locker room, Dome renovations, and permanent seating on the opposite side of the dome to integrate students with the rest of the seating leaves us dead in the water. If this is true why does the administration keep all of this information so quiet. its impossible to find anything about the arena and dome renovations. how do we create interst for something everyone knows nothing or very little about.
Same thing goes with tailgating. why are we telling people tailgating is sold out and not giving them a spot. we need all the support we can get. We gave NDSU a tailgating spot 8 times the size of ours in a week. yet in 6 months we couldnt create a better tailgating spot for ourselves that would allow anyone who wanted a spot to come. I have heard a lot of people say they tried to get a spot but couldnt. yet when you're there on gamedays it looks like a ghost town with empty parking spots.
Next year we start recieving profit sharing with the MVFC and the NCAA. Does anyone know how much money that is? If we were not going to make the commitment to football we should not have made the jump to D1. Our endowment is almost twice the size of SDSU and NDSU. Why do we have such a problem with making a commitment to the football program right now? Pay Glenn. We need him. Get some quality assistants in there for him to work with. Otherwise we should have stayed D2.
