A while back I bought two tickets to the game, but I won’t be going to the game unfortunately. I’m looking to give them away to someone that is going. The two seats are at about the 35 yd line behind the USD bench. Message me if interested.

And the Dakota schools that do want nothing to do with it. NDSU folks are already saying if Augie comes in it's FBS or bust. Can you post a link where the NDSU administration says they are going FBS for football if Augustana joins the Summit League? I’d be interested in seeing that...

Yes, kidding bout the GW of course.. Like it or not, I think this all but solidifies the push for Augie to D1. Assuming no one leaves, Augie would make it 10 teams. Thats about as stable as a middle of the road conference can get right now. I think we could obviously have UMKC at the drop of a dime as well-Not that we want them. Just out of curiousity, what bigger conference is interested in gobbling up the Dakota schools? The Missouri Valley? Is giving up a tournament in our back yard worth that move? I think the dream of a MVC all sports conference is exactly that, a pipe dream, unless they have 2-3 of the private schools gobbled up by someone else. I do agree that they cant seem to figure out the scheduling for BB. They change the methodology almost every year, and yes they need to cater to their rivalries-big ticket games. Personally I think they should backload the schedule a little more. Have the regular season lead into the Summit tourney, since that is all that really matters. Wasn’t the last regular season game that the USD men played against SDSU up in Brookings? Is this what you mean by having the regular season lead into the SLT?

Caleb Nero looks like a 2017 grad that committed to Milwaukee Wisconsin originally but then maybe went prep school. Looks like he has the ability to score and nice offensive game. Hopefully we can lock him down. How did you hear about this? Nothing on social media... This is the first I've heard of any players being offered by Lee. The website verbalcommits.com confirms USD has offered Caleb Nero.

While I think the administration has done an excellent job of attracting great coaches, I've been pretty unimpressed with this process. If this indeed is the hire, why wouldn't they take a chance on a young coach like Eric? Would keep the team intact likely and keep recruiting going, and these assistants did a ton of the heavy lifting in recruiting and game planning. I obviously will support whoever is hired, but I think the differences of opinions of some of the administration could hurt us here. Would you be willing to elaborate on what you mean by differences of opinion of some of the administration? Also, I am a big fan of Eric Peterson and have no doubt he will be a head coach again some day, where that may be I don’t know.

Jeff Goodman of ESPN is reporting that former Missouri State coach Paul Lusk will be joining Greg McDermott’s staff at Creighton.

Last night on Midco Sports Tonight David Herbster was interviewed down in San Antonio and he mentioned that USD has hired Eddie Fogler Consulting to help with the search for a new head coach. Apparently they were also part of the search process 4 years ago when we hired Coach Smith.

Anyone that thinks there is no connection between Augie and Sanford/Kelby is just not well informed.
Kelby’s son Joe is married to the daughter of Bill Gross. Gross is currently the interim AD at Augie. Bill Gross played basketball at Augustana, was the head coach of Augustana’s men’s basketball team for 9 years and was the Athletic Director for 28 years before stepping down in 2014. He returned to the AD role after Slade Larscheid stepped down.
Also, Kelby’s daughter played basketball one year at Augie before transferring. And the third kid played on Augie’s football team I believe.

Why would Sanford want Augie in D1? Where would that benefit them? Also how keen is Augie on dropping football only a few years after building a pretty nice new stadium? I just don't see it happening. You must not attend Augustana basketball games. One prominent Sanford employee sits court-side 50-yd line at the big basketball games, at least he was the last time I was in the arena. I’m sure this individual would much rather watch USD and SDSU play ball than Winona and Upper Iowa.

If I am interviewing, I think I have the following on my list for sure: Eric Peterson (Continuity, recruiting, HC/AD experience) Ben McCollum (Winner) Craig Doty (Winner with limited resources) Scott Cross (Winner with limited resources; D1) Maybe Darian DeVries, but I am not sure. Why has he been in one place for 20 years? I appreciate the mix of experience with Altman and McD, however. I think I am over Miller. I suspect we vetted him before. So did state. Something is missing that we don't know about. I trust our guys discretion either way on this matter. I agree with your thoughts on Miller. If we and SDSU both passed on him last time, what would make him more attractive today? Also, I think I remember on one of the SDSU Argus Leader chats someone asking Zimmer about Miller and Zim mentioned something about “skeletons in the closet.” I would be very surprised if he becomes our next head coach.

Utah State is a bigger school in a better conference and he could make more money. If they don’t have to fly commercial on road trips then even better. I think he hates all the bus to Omaha/Sf and take a couple connections to get where you are going stuff. I agree that it does seem that Smith hates the travel arrangements that are required of a school our size (and the location in Vermillion). Which makes it crazy in my mind that some on this board are suggesting that the solution is to join the MVC or the Big Sky. At least in the Summit League the basketball teams can drive to Omaha, Brookings, Fargo, and now Grand Forks. Additionally, this means that USD Fans can travel to these destinations. Over the last 3 years I have watched our men play at UNO and NDSU each once and in Brookings 3 times. I am looking forward to making the trip to watch basketball and football games in Grand Forks. I think it is great that our fans can easily travel to many of the away conference games. Which to me makes it bizarre that folks would be against having Augie in the Summit. I would go to the men's and women's basketball games against Augie in Sioux Falls every year - it would also be an easy drive for Vermillion residents to attend an away conference game if they so choose. If USD ever leaves the Summit League it would be very difficult to travel to away games. Anyone up for a road trip to Southern Utah, Weber State, Portland State, or any of the MVC schools? Looks like the drive to the closest MVC school to us is close to 5 hours. Also, if we are in the Big Sky we could go to our conference basketball tournament in Reno, Nevada. This year the championship game between Montana and Eastern Washington had 1,378 fans in attendance. I guess it was a neutral court though. I bet the student athletes enjoy playing in an empty shed, at least that is what it looks like on TV. Call me crazy, but I prefer the conference tournament in Sioux Falls. I also think having the rivalry against South Dakota State is great, and would be really disappointed if we moved to a different conference than them and once again lost the rivalry. So in summary, my view is stay in the Summit League, add Augustana, encourage all of the Yote fans we know to buy all-session passes to the Summit League Tournament, and cheer loudly every March in Sioux Falls.

The committee can do whatever they want, but if I was a UND fan I would be pissed if I didn't have the same chance at seats. If SDSU left for another conference and they were in the situation UND will be in there would be hell to pay. The world only revolves around them in their eyes and when something goes bad, just sweep it under the rug. If the SL wants to maximize attendance I don't see why they wouldn't open it up. When did the 2 year rule go into existence? There are very few Bison fans that buy all session passes. Why do you think UND fans will when its hockey season. UND can have IUPUI’s allocation of tickets. I’m guessing those haven’t been given away for next year. I think UND will have plenty of tickets for the 2019 tournament. I hope I am wrong. I would like to see more folks from Omaha make the drive up too, but they did not have a good showing at this year’s tournament.

Do you think USD should reshuffle the seats each year for football and basketball season ticket holders? I know many will argue that this is a totally different matter, but I know it was really easy to re-new my tickets for basketball this year knowing who I would be sitting by and where my seats would be. I think SDSU reshuffles their seats every three years, which to me would be a giant pain. Folks at USD that have had their same season tickets in the dome for the last several years probably wouldn’t like being booted out of their spots. In fact I heard that a few years ago the ticket office was going to re-shuffle the seats in the dome and there was such a ruckus that they decided against it. I don't have an answer to your question, but I think the comparison between season-ticket-holders and all-session-pass-holders is an apt one. To me, the Sioux Falls authority has treated the SLT tickets similarly to season-tickets, at least in terms of giving first-option on renewal. I don't think that is an appropriate model for a conference tourney, IMHO. Even if it returns big profits. I think an interesting statistic on the last 2-year Summit Tournament renewal process is that 80% of ticket holders chose to renew their seats for 2018-2019 tournament. While this is a high number, that also means that 20%, or 1 in 5 chose not to renew their seats. So the tickets that were not renewed were available for anyone to purchase. From that standpoint it is hard to argue that there were no tickets available for other fan bases to get seats. That might not be popular to write on our board, but I think it is the truth. I will be surprised if the SF sports authority chooses to reshuffle the seats after 2019, but I could be wrong.

They've got to reseat the thing. It's absolutely ridiculous that they don't do it on an annual basis. Do you think USD should reshuffle the seats each year for football and basketball season ticket holders?
