UND did what was good for them and while Faison may have been disappointed, he has been disappointed with his own university and called it out but he has been a man and stayed there honestly. I am not sure what you are talking about - please explain? In general, I think the Big Sky and UND are being gracious and understanding about decision. They understand that joining the the MVFC is whats best for USD. I do believe the Big Sky thought that UxDs were a pair and both UND and the Big Sky thought the decision had been made by USD to join the Big Sky and going to board and signing was just a formality. The P&D had quotes from Mr. Saylor about this on Monday. So, Mr. Abbott and Mr. Saylor can be hailed for its business savvy and doing its due diligence in South Dakota. I do believe a "trust" has been lost and the relationships between UND and USD will be very different going forward.... Again, personally I wish you the best of luck going forward. Here is a good video clip.. www.inkbarreltv.com/inkbarrelCMS/system/networks/sd_yankton_press/index.php?id=0_irj0q4im&channel=FSSD, In terms of Faison not being happy with his university for something and calling them out, I am referring to his appearance on ESPN's Outside the Lines when they talked about the mascot situation. He just wanted the situation down and appeared frustrated on the show, and I would've been too. I think he is a pretty good athletic director. It definitely wasn't a slam on Faison. I agree, USD did what was right for them and so did UND and I think both schools are well off from it. I think USD does have more trust to rebuild with UND and I think they will get repaired quite fast. It would be great to see UND on a consistent basis still. It terms of the logos...I will give it a shot sometime today or tomorrow. I know RedWhite helped center the logo and get things looking better last night.

I am actually on those meds and happier then ever. I just don't condone the way USD disrespected alot of people to get what they wanted. This is business, buddy. Acting in your own best interests is just part of D1 sports. I think USD's administration deserves respect for savvy dealing here, not criticism for "disrespecting" anybody. No doubt USD will play UND from time to time and you can go to those games, whine about disrespect, and pretend you're in the Big Sky. Bottom line: USD is way better off in an most-sports conference with basketball tourneys in Sioux Falls and in a football conference where people already know most of the members. Sac State isn't going to draw people to the dome like SDSU, NDSU and UNI will. Sports are supposed to be fun. We were deliriously happy when we got into a conference, and it has been fun to bring teams like SIU, ORU and UNI to Brookings regularly. Enjoy it.

I can go on either side of the fence about this. If it's called business savy I can certainly live with that but if we are going to take that angle lets not just stop there. Lets take that same approach to everything else that is done as well. Take that step to getting big donors to donate and take that attitude to the college world of expectations. Take that step to making the best basketball arena in the Summit. But most especially take that step to the field of competition. USD needs to set big goals and act as the bulldozer. We are here to WIN, and WIN period. If you don't get out of our way you going to get smashed trying to stop us. Lets take that attitude. Lets try to win football game 70-0 but if it's doesn't quite work out that way we will take a 35-14 win and write it off to a bad performance.
I would love for a banner to go up in the dome, the land of no excuses. We are here to compete, we are here to show sporsmanship along the way but most importantly we are here to win. We are not here to make excuses and we will not make excuses. Excuses are for losers. USD need to go into the MVFC and expect to win the conference title in the first year and do everything possible to ensure that happens. Whether it actually happens who knows but without the attitude and the goal set down it certainly WON'T happen. Sayler need to ensure USD is in the best possible situation to give them the absolutely best chance to succeed.
Right now the USD football team is mediocre. They tend to play their best football when the pressure is off. They tend to play their worst when the pressure cooker is turned up to high heat. They need to reverse that trend. When USD gets into the important part of their season when they have a shot to win a conference title is when they lose focus and play the type of game they play against S. Utah. But when the pressure is off such as in games against Minnesota or Northern Colorado they tend to play better. This is not always the case just the trend.
As soon as this football season is over Sayler needs to have a big talk with Meierkort. Let him know that USD no longer tolerates a team that self destructs doesn't show up for every game and certainly can be a team that is competant enough to be able to win in crunch time which is something Ed teams have NOT shown.
If Ed does not improve as a coach 2011 should be his last year because all the pieces are in place for a good season next year. Alot of returning players, coaches returning etc. The excuses totally run out in 2011. It's called being cut throat. If USD can write-off the conference courting situation to being savy (which I am ok with) than they can write off the firing of coaches that don't succeed as being "savy" as well.
It's either win of your out. very simple. The time for accountability is NOW.

So there was no pressure on USD when they were up on Minnesota for almost the entire game? yeah, there was a lot of pressure on that team throughout the game, so that is a bad example.
I do agree that the team doesn't do well in pressure situations the last two years. I feel today is a pressure game for USD, as I think that every game that doesn't have a NAIA or D-II in front of it.

C'mon coyotefan, if we are going to demand accountability we cannot afford to wait until the end of 2011. I say if Cal Poly goes ahead at any time today, even if they score on their first possession, that Sayler get on the PA system and fire Ed on the spot. Hopefully you will be in attendance today, so you can take over the head coaching duties for the rest of the game.

There isn't a whole lot on the line as far as being able to gain accomplishment. At least not compared to the some of the other more important games.

I agree with that. This is a pressure game. USD HAS to finish above .500. Remember last year when "nothing" was riding on this game and USD went to Cali and won it? Yeah, exactly

I think USD football is in pretty good shape for a transition team.
USD will be competitive in the MVFC. Last year, there were some pretty dominant teams (SIU, SDSU) but this year none of the teams are at that level. It's all up for grabs. Next year will be brutal.
I'm guessing USD is at least as good as the Missouri State team I saw today.

After what I saw today out of Missouri State and USD, JimmyJack is right. That Cal Poly game was AWFUL.

Come on lets just keep things on the up and up. (sarcasm inserted) Cal Poly is a great team, NFL caliber in my opinion :-) USD has no shame in getting out to a 2 touchdown lead only to play "fold the tent" the rest of the game. Lets keep riding down this road. first year 6-5, next year 5-6, next 6-5, next 5-6 an so on for about a decade. Sound fun to me I don't know about anyone else. ********sign**********

If you were we would be looking like the dallas cowboys year after year. I am not making the decision which is the truth. On the other hand if I had a say I would have never hired Wade Phillips in the first place let alone allow him to run the entire franchise into the ground. So would Dallas be better off with Jerry Jones keeping his friend Wade or having me make the decision to never have hired him in the first place. How Phillips was allowed to last this long is beyond me and most true Cowboy fans are furious.
