Apparently I have exhausted my free articles from the Argus. I suppose it would be illegal for someone to post the article in the thread?

Actually very well written and what he said is true. All of it. Time will tell if we have arrived yet. Five things after five games for the Coyote football team: 1.It's still too early to decide what kind of a squad this is because they've played a little more than a half of football with their starting quarterback. Ryan Saeger showed progress in his time at the helm and, because he's a sophomore, could be the starter someday in a Coyote uniform. He's an excellent runner and at times looks like he's got a good feel for the passing game. A tendency to hang onto the ball too long went from being an obvious issue to a much more subtle issue. He hadn't thrown a forward pass prior to taking the field against Oregon and this experience will help him in the future. There was no question going into the season who the starting quarterback was, though, and now USD gets that guy back. 2.The second-half collapse is cause for concern. USD was playing a close game against a good team and at times actually looked like the better team – and then everything began to go wrong in the third quarter against Southern Illinois. It was unusual that the breakdowns were so comprehensive – everyone got into the act when it came time to play worse than they did in the first half. USD has to be hoping the second half was an aberration and not the kind of football they'll be playing the rest of the way. They were facing a team that has had some pretty freaky second-half numbers so far this year and maybe a little letdown conspired with playing a hot team and made the second-half fade look worse than it actually was. The Coyotes will clarify what happened in Carbondale by how they play against UNI this week. 3.Take the "signature win" tag off the Northern Arizona victory. If it had been a win that signified a step forward for USD, the Coyotes would have had a better showing against Southern Illinois. Now the Northern Arizona game goes back to being a nice win against a good team at home – pretty impressive but something they've done several times during the FCS era dating back to the Meierkort years. I still think this is a decent team but at some point they're going to have to prove it. I don't think there is any question that a healthy Kevin Earl gives the team a better chance to win, but quarterbacking has not been the only issue. 4.I was very impressed with MyCole Pruitt's work against USD last Saturday. Pruitt, a 255-pound tight end who can catch and run, was quiet in the first half against the Coyotes but had a big second half. On most of his big plays, however, he was essentially uncovered. SIU has figured out a way to get the most out of a very gifted player. Part of that equation has been finding routes for him within plays that make it very difficult to keep track of him. At least that's how it went last Saturday night. 5.Earl has the opportunity to give the squad a real boost this week with a good game at home against Northern Iowa. I'd guess there are definitely going to be a few series where he looks like a guy who hasn't played in more than a month but if he can get it going at some point and give a spark to an offense that turned in a real rocky second half last week, it could get the whole team going. As for Earl himself, there are probably a few things about the job and the offense that he learned while watching. Standing on the sidelines in a situation like that is not what anyone wanted, but it's not necessarily static. There are reasons to expect, after he re-adjusts to game

If using google chrome just use the incognito mode and you can read all you want from the Argus. It is also pretty obvious that the Argus has allocated more of Mick's time to all things Coyote and he is doing a great job with the extra time.

Thanks AZ. Getting Jacobs back should really help. USDlaw, its not your pizza, its not my pizza, its R-Pizza! Happy D-Days! Oh the old days of walking into R Pizza on a cold January night after closing down the Char, Carey's and Pressbox, then calling in an order for delivery to Dakotadome Apts then tipping the delivery guy to drive you and your pizza home. Classic, miss those days. I loved the delivering me and my pizza home trick with my roommates. Then of course calling VPD on speed dial to ask them not to ticket our car from 2am to 6am - back when they used to allow that, always thinking of the Judge and his USD student who went all the way to US Supreme Court. Happy DDays!
