The way I look at it, this is all apart of taking the plunge into Valley football. Can't wait to see them in person! Exactly! Go SD!

Quick prediction. USD 37 UNI 21
I leave for SD tomorrow morning real early. This will be my first DDay in a long time. I think they beat Augie (big surprise) back in the early 2000's some time.
I'll be playing trumpet in The Alumni Band. Nobody shoot.
The Helmets look great. I'm all for jazzing it up a bit. In fact it is about time. Were FCS D1. Go for it.
Now go South Dakota, go Coyotes, Forever of course! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The goyotes.com website says the rest of the uniform will be released on Thursday. Like a previous poster I am not a big fan of alternate uniforms, but if the uniform is as nice as the helmet, I am 100% on board.

Not big on alt uniforms. It's a gimic that can't go away fast enough. Great programs don't need gimics to garner excitement, they just win.

UNI has a good QB in Kollmorgen and one of the better running backs in the Valley in David Johnson. The Indiana State defense accumulated 7 TFLs in the game last Saturday against UNI and I would imagine you will see a lot of stunts, blitz packages, and creative schemes from the Coyotes to hurry Kollmorgen up. Hopefully that will translate in to an INT or two, but Kollmorgen likes to tuck it and run so we'll need to pay attention to assignments. USD led the Valley in sacks last year, but only has one I believe thus far. It would be nice to see that change on Saturday. UNI has a national special teams player of the week recipient from two weeks ago in their FG kicker Schmadeke (sp) who can be a game changer. ISU moved the ball on the ground and in the air to win on Saturday and USD will have to do the same if they expect a shot in this one. Pretty typical UNI team coming in to the Dome. Well coached, talented, and big. They will look just like they did last year in Cedar Falls and they will be mad as hell and ready to get the Coyotes back after last year's loss. They still view USD as a little brother, if that. I'd like to see that all-time series stat for this matchup get a little more evened up. It's 25-18-1 right now. Let's make it 19 Yotes. New uniforms don't mean much unless they're properly broken in. Let's get a huge D-Days win and own the state of Iowa this week on the volleyball court and on the football field. Go Yotes!

Back to some football talk! Love it. The way I see it, all of the outside stuff has lined up perfectly for the coyotes to get a win. UNI coming off a loss, back to back road games in the valley for the panthers, Kevin Earl back in the lineup. It just seems like the right time for a coyote win. COYOTE KEYS TO VICTORY - feel free to add/remove or change any of them, I like different perspectives. 1) Contain the UNI running game - they have a pretty impressive 1-2 punch in the backfield. One very big power back that will run right at you until you load the box and one speedster 2) Kevin Earl - which player is going to show up Saturday? Will he be a savior to the passing game that puts up 250-300 through the air, or will he look like a guy that hasn't played in 6 weeks? 3) Put some pressure on Kollmorgen - Our defense does a good job managing games when they stick to running the football. Hopefully that doesn't change this week. Teams beat us when they can sit their QB in the pocket all afternoon and pick us apart up and down the field. This is an important one this week coyotes! This is our chance to prove to people that beating them last year wasn't just a fluke. The consensus around Panther Nation is that the refs screwed them last year, or something along those lines. Or I've heard that Terry never broke the plane on that TD catch in the 4th. Bottom line is, people don't think we deserved to win that game. This is an opportunity to prove we belong in the valley. Fight South Dakota!

I think the alternates are pretty sweet. More importantly, I love that the players love them. Hopefully our future recruits get to see them.

Mick Garry:
VERMILLION – The pop on Kevin Earl's fastball was evident on Tuesday afternoon at the DakotaDome. No matter what happens on Saturday against Northern Iowa, no one will leave saying South Dakota's starting quarterback lacks velocity on his passes.
The 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior came into the season with coaches extremely excited about his work in fall camp, but he broke a bone in his hand in the opening game against Oregon and has not played since.
He'll be making what he hopes is a triumphant return on Saturday at the 100th Dakota Day at the Dome against the No. 21 Northern Iowa Panthers. His re-debut couldn't come at a better time for the Coyotes (2-3, 0-1), who are coming off a 41-10 loss to Missouri Valley Conference foe Southern Illinois.
"It's an awesome feeling, especially after being without football for five weeks," said Earl, who started the final eight games for the Coyotes last year. "It's not something I've ever been through before, but it was a learning experience – a humbling experience – and ultimately I think it's going to help me."
When he left the Oregon game after banging his hand on a helmet in the third quarter, doctors said he'd be looking at least six weeks on the sidelines. Six weeks to the day after he injured the hand, he'll be back on the field trying to put forth an effort that resembles what he did last year against the Panthers, who saw a young and unproven sophomore torch them for 370 yards in a 38-31 double-overtime USD win.
"That was a milestone game for me," Earl said. "To step into your first road game as a college quarterback and play like I did was a huge boost of confidence."
The broken hand stopped his physical development as a quarterback in 2014, but Earl, along with the coaches and backup Ryan Saeger, tried to make sure the situation was not completely static. There were a lot of conversations about the offense and the direction it was taking.
"I think Kevin has learned some things from Ryan about how to attack certain situations," offensive coordinator Wes Beschorner said. "Ryan did a good job. He went 2-2 as a starter, which is nothing to slap your face about. They talked a lot back and forth and I think it helped both. You want to be there in live-action, but at the same time, you get to see something from a different angle when you go through what Kevin went through."
Last year shortly after Earl began finding his groove, the running game began to crumble because of injuries. Coaches say it affected the quarterback's productivity late in the season. Coaches added that since the Coyotes' running game has been healthy and fairly productive this season, Earl's efficiency could be on the rise.
They don't know that for sure, of course, because of Earl's limited time on the field. On Saturday, they're hoping that a more experienced passer can ultimately give the backfield more breathing room.
"He gives us the ability to raise some Cain with the passing game," coach Joe Glenn said. "This week we got some healthy running backs so we should be able to bang a little bit and get some yardage – but (UNI) is really a fine football team. Kevin has a few routes where he can really rock the ball in there, and it's hard to defend. I'm very hopeful he's going to pick us up where we need him to pick us up."
Beschorner likened Earl's return to getting ready for the first game of the season. There will be some initial anxiety that wouldn't exist normally, but otherwise what happens in practice is going to be an accurate metric for what they can expect in the game.
For Earl's part, he wants to show progress on Saturday even though he's had no on-field opportunities to develop that the last five weeks.
"There's always going to be that small doubt that you're not going to be as crisp as you were when you left," Earl said. "But just throwing the ball this week has felt awesome. I feel fresh. My legs feel good so I don't think it's going to be a problem getting up to speed. If anything, I think I'm going to be better."
