I did appreciate Joe's post game interview with Joe Van Gor - instead of the usual "fight South Dakota" sign off, Joe Glenn changed it to "Beat South Dakota State".

This game will be the only true test of how good this team is. The one game of this season where I shouldn't have to question effort and desire. At least I hope that's the case. If not, I would find it very hard to get excited about the program again.

I've got my tickets (not sure why we went through the trouble of getting tickets when all that's keeping us out is a dinky chain link fence). Never been to a game up there, can't say I'm excited to experience their "stadium" either.

So enjoy the day and game on Saturday. Next year we will still have the current home side with new south and east side stands. Then the next time you play in Brookings in two years it will be in a totally new facility. You may want to go early and see the new indoor practice facility. I am guessing it will be open before the game. I enjoyed last years game in the Dome. It was the first time i had been to a game there, but have been there for basketball games before.

I believe we are set to go check out the practice facility, some sort of pre-game ordeal I guess. Sounds like the weather is going to be about as good as one can expect on Saturday, otherwise I'd probably be hanging out in there just to get away from the cold.

I hope we play well, but it is going to be really tough one with the injuries we have and being down to our #4 running back. Anyone know if Sanders or any of the others are planning on playing?

Anyone know if Matt Huffer will play this week? Looked like he injured a knee last week. Losing another original starter up front would be a huge loss.

I mean, dont we alread know how "good" this team is? State will be up for this game just as much as our guys. It will come down to execution, discipline, and coaching. So my prediction is we play the way we have all year. We will string a few good posessions together on both offense and defense but wont sustain either for a full game. SDSU 38-USD 20. Zenner 175+ yards and 3 TD's.

First time poster, excited for the State-U rivalry week. Hoping the U can count on the "rivalry game" scenario to stay in this one. Otherwise, from what I have seen from both teams this year, this one shouldn't be close. I agree that we already know how "good" both of these teams are this year...its going to take a tremendous performance from our yotes and an off day from the jacks for us to come away with a win. Just being realistic. Hopeful...but realistic.

Biggest difference I have seen between the Yotes, and the top tier MVFC teams like NDSU, Illinois St, SDSU is in the backfield & trenches. The U has not shown the toughness up front, offensively or defensively, these past few years as it has in the past when we have been successful. The lack of a game changer in the backfield is another glaring flaw with this team. Look at the top of this league, and everyone of those teams is very strong up front, on both sides of the LOS, and has a difference maker at RB. Until we get tougher on the line of scrimmage, it will be very hard to climb into the upper half of this league. I hate to say it, but State has a pretty good model for success that the Yotes can follow. Very good on both lines, Good RB, QB who is not overly dynamic but doesn't turn the ball over, and solid on the outside skill positions. I feel like the U is swinging and missing on too many projects up front and spending all of their money on outside skill players. Invest in the foundation and you will reap the benefits.

Yotes (not the group, the poster): You do not seem very happy about going to the last USD vs. SDSU football game at the wornout and tired Coughlin Alumni Stadium. Visiting fans have been having a great time at all the games this year...even last Saturday's snow bowl. But, judging from the two posts quoted above, you have to reconsider your decision to go to Brookings. Is somebody holding a gun to your head? Stay home and enjoy whatever it is you prefer to do. If you do decide to attend the game, lighten up and have some fun. You will not be forced to go through any pre-game ordeal (how do you come up with such goofy notions?)...you won't be forced to do anything. Present yourself as a reasonable person and you'll be treated as such.
Yoteforever: are you coming up? The 1978 USD defense featuring you and your colleagues, the notorious "Pack Patrol", can revisit the scene of the crime in your championship year: USD 24, SDSU 7 before it is permanently changed.
Yotemeal; Cousin Eddie: You seems to be able to find free beer...coming up? We'll have lots of it. Jeff will be there.

It would be nice to see the Yotes start the game off with some fire, rather than give up a quick 14 or 21 points in the first quarter like we've been accustomed to. Last year's game was much more competitive than the final score showed. I really hope it's 10 degrees with a 40 MPH wind on Saturday because otherwise Sumner will have a field day picking apart the secondary. But rivalry games bring out the best in players, so you never know what can happen!
