I'm disappointed that none of our DBs will step up and hit. But that wouldn't be as much of s problem if our DL and LBs weren't getting blocked. D needs to get more physical

The defense will play a totally different way the rest of the year.

To be clear, I am not saying the defense didn't suck balls...because it did. I am saying don't read too much into this one game and all is not lost. The defense can still improve and I like what the offense was capable of.

I never heard how much we are making for playing this game. Anyone know how much the check will be for from New Mexico? I know we received a $500k buyout from Cal. $325,000 I'm pretty certain we are going to be ok. No quit in them

Also, I think this team has some swagger in them if they don't get too down after today.

Offense played ok especially considering NM had 10 def starters back from their bowl season last year. D is more a work in progress but as several posters have stated it is very difficult to play good consistent defense against a very good option team which NM is. And they mixed in a number of passes too. In these games you have to play error free and not give up big plays and turnovers to have a shot to win. NM was a good tough test and Yotes will only get better as season progresses! GO YOTES!!

This will probably be the only game all year that the D has to play "assignment" defense, which is a much harder scheme to play...especially for guys with less experience. In my opinion, I think there is a clear answer at the QB position.

Streveler is a freak at the FCS level. The 1 thing I am curious to see, and we will see much more of it next week, is if he has the ability to drive the ball downfield. He's obviously accurate enough on the short routes.

There were glimpses of good D being played but giving up 615 total yards on offense and 448 (most ever against USD) is too much. Just too many big plays given up. Hopefully some of that was to do with UNM having some great athletes as they seemed to have 4 RBs who could run pretty well. I am looking forward to the next game and see how they improve.

For what it's worth, I have heard that Chris Streveler's grand father also passed away yesterday morning. Tough kid going out and doing what he did with a heavy heart. God Bless

I'm really encouraged by the game. Let's not forget, in an FBS game against a team who went bowling, the priorities are: 1. The check clears 2. No one gets hurt 3. See how the players perform against better talent
Seemed like #2 & 3 were very successful. I just hope the check clears.

LOL, #1 the Check Clears, how true, that might be the best thing I have read today! Thanks for the levity after a tough loss!

I gained more respect for Streveler hearing this news. He has got a great stutter step to make defenders miss, power to run them over, and speed to run away from them. He is fun to watch and hope to see him keep starting.

After last night I hope Streveler is the clear starter and does not split time with anyone else unless he performs poorly enough to lose the job at this point. Saeger is a good game manager but I do not think he was what it takes to win consistently. Simmon's arm looked the best when he took a few shots down field but his lack of experience showed too. He was lost out there. Let him learn the position the next 2 years.
Most exciting game our offense has played in 4 years. No issues there. D looked bad but I'm reserving judgment until the next 2 non triple option games are played to make judgment. New Mexico should be a contender for the Mountain West title this year.
Also, First time in 4 years our kick coverage looked really good. One area we out performed New Mexico all game. I was really impressed with it.

Not considering the game outcome, how was this event?
