She is just so strong in all facets of the game: perimeter, post, offense, defense , even running point. In my mind it would be criminal if she's not Summit League player of the year.

She won't be (it will be Miller or Clemens) but for all of the reasons you mention, I tend to agree. She's the most integral player on the best team in the league.

It will be Clemens' award to lose in the final games of the year. She has poor 3 pt shooting. All the rest of her stats are solid. She plays 36+ minutes per game which is necessary for the Leathernecks to play at a higher level. Duffy and Miller play 29-31 minutes per game to get their numbers. The Coyotes have a deep enough team to function without Duffy most games. The same might be said of the Jackrabbits without Miller to a lesser degree. The February 21 game performance of these players may change the landscape.

I don't think its just about the hype. Miller and Clemens are both just individually great athletes that are able to produce some insane stats in their respective offensive systems. Dawn's offense and defense this year is less about featuring any one player, and more about sharing the ball, finding the "hot hand" and playing great team defense. At the end of the day, I like the results, even if it is at the expense of individual accolades. I think Duffy would trade a player of the year for a ring or two.

In watching the WIU games and SDSU game this season, Duffy's all-around game doesn't take a backseat to anybody on the floor.

If Duffy has a good game against SDSU, she should win it. If not, even if they win, probably Clemens or Miller.

The Women's basketball conversatio starts at about the 8:20 mark. He said that the Coyotes didn't come into the season with a no brainer go to first team all conference player. I guess there is a gal named Allison that her fans would disagree with that statement. Allison was about as "go to" as it comes. She was with a doubt a go to player so I guess I am a little confused with that one but maybe Mick has already forgotten how good Allison was last season. I am very very surprised with how long Mick has covered the Coyotes (since the 1990's) and how little he seems to know about the sports programs in general considering his longevity on the beat. I was also a little surprised to hear Matt Zimmer talk about the Jacks vs USD in women's basketball and hint at the idea that the programs have split at least once but probably multiple times where the teams have won on each others court for the split. Sorry Matt but that hasn't happened since at least as far back as the early 90's or ever before that, especially since USD has only won twice in Brookings in roughly 30 years. This year they haven't even completed the series. The only time it could have happened would have been 2016 and that year the Coyotes swept the Jacks in the regular season. These guys talk out of their asses way too much without knowing the real info. BTW Matt also has stated this year that no one is good enough to run the table in the Summit League and he has mentioned that for men and women. Matt is the ultimate back tracker but he won't admit when he back tracks.
The Argus often uses the excuse of the readership as the reason SDSU gets more coverage. I actually don't have a problem with that notion as it makes sense from a business perspective. What doesn't make sense though is to put a guy on the USD beat that has no motivation to hype up the Coyote programs. He will actually do quite the opposite. If the Argus really wanted to increase readers that are Coyote fans why not have a beat writer that is going to hype up the programs and at least act a little like a cheerleader once in awhile. It is good to be honest but to be honest one has to be optimistic at least once in a while. You would never know from him that the Coyote programs are a combined 19-2 in league play. Mick has a monotone personality that does very little to excite the fan base. To me that still smells like SDSU bias from the Argus.

I only listened to three of the 15 minutes, and had to stop. Mick seems to think that every single positive thing he says about local teams has to be followed with a negative qualification. It's not even limited to USD. He just thinks local sports in inferior to power-5 sports. "I think this is the best recruiting class USD has had under Bob Nielson, BUT.... It's not like he's been coaching for 20 years, or anything". I'm done listening to that kind of crap. The news cycle is negative enough without listening to sports news from friggin' Eeyore. You know when CF thinks Mick is being overly negative and pessimistic, it's REALLY bad.

Ok, I hate-listened to it anyway. CF was spot-on with his comments, and I'll just add three more comments:
1. Micks says that if the Men win or lose to Fort Wayne we will know if they are a good team this year. Sooo, they haven't already proven anything? If they win tonight, He will probably say they need a SLT title to prove they are any good.
2. Mick commented on Duffy like she came out of nowhere as a player this year. Apparently he forgot that she was Summit League freshman-of-the-year last year?
3. Mick commented that the only good thing about playing Doane this weekend is that bench players that haven't seen any action since the non-conference will get to play. Our bench has gotten plenty of minutes in conference play, all things considered IMO. I feel like depth at guard has been a strength this year.
