I think you have to group USD/SDSU/NDSU/UND together. I believe with the in state rivals if the Coyotes were to have to travel to Brookings that they should have gotten to host the other two schools, NDSU and UND but that did not happen. Same goes for the North Dakota schools. Whichever school had to travel to the rival should also have gotten to host both South Dakota schools. Not sure if that happened or not. I guess one of the good things is that the Yotes do not have to go out to Denver which is a break. That is a hard place to play where upsets tend to happen, especially on the women's side. Also not having to go to ORU is nice, especially for the women. I would have rather the Yotes had to travel to Omaha as SD tends to draw well down there and it isn't a particularly hard place to play for the Coyotes. I don't mind having to travel to Western Illinois or Kansas City as both are high school like gyms without much fan support. Obviously traveling to Brookings is crummy but the Summit always favors them over the Coyotes so what is new. Maybe the Summit felt bad for both Jack's teams (especially the women to avoid another embarrassment). Why did UND get to host NDSU then.

wow are you kidding me. Oklahoma, gonzaga and south carolina.
raise hands please. in 2010 who would have though the Coyotes would host a tourney of this caliber in a beautiful new arena. there would not have been many hands legitimately raised.
the crossover classic is an awesome name for a basketball tourney. this is good in so many ways. can vermillion sell out this tourney. will this be an annual event. i certainly hope so. my gosh this run very high on the excitement and hype meter.

oops i guess things are at the pentagon. i am all for playing in sioux falls (easier for me to get to the games) but why is this not in vermillion. capacity would not be a problem and i know i am biased but the SCSC is simply the better arena and the bigger advantage.

It is in Sioux Falls because it is the women’s component of the men’s tournament, all of which was supposed to be held in the Bahamas. There are not enough hotels in Vermilion to host all of the teams plus all of the fans. There are eight teams on the men’s side - Duke dropped out, but most of them are very big-name schools. Even though they are playing three days before the women, they still wanted to keep it all at the same facility.

Wichita State and Dayton are both rumored to be dropping out of the men's event shortly. I wouldn't be painting my face and getting the pom poms out just yet.

Never mind. Dayton dropped out an hour ago. Wichita will have to quarantine for two weeks after returning to Kansas so I don't think there's any chance they show up. And I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the Catholic universities from California and Washington in the men's and women's fields, respectively, will follow suit before too long.

Sadly, these events feel doomed.

Sadly, these events feel doomed. Agreed, unfortunately.

Why all the doom and gloom? I could've sworn I heard that all this covid stuff would magically disappear after November 3rd.

I know it has been discussed before, but I don't remember when. Will Aspen Williston play this year? It seems she was granted a waiver, and since this season doesn't count towards a year of eligibility, it seems like she should be playing? Would be nice for Sjerven to be able to play like she knew she had a solid backup when she needs a rest.

I've wondered the same about her eligibility. Hopefully someone will weigh in with clarification.

You have to remember that they haven't even had a regular summer or time to really prepare someone who has just entered the program. Let her get her feet under her and be a big force next year. Yotes have some other options for Hannah's backup already. Our bench is deep.

Two things jumped out for me: 1. Hays' nod for Maddie Krull to be national newcomer of the year (honestly, I didn't think any freshmen would get a ton of minutes, but I don't know much about Krull) 2. The usual love for USD/SDSU is gone. Neither team mentioned other than Krull. They expect the Yotes to drop so far that they both pick SDSU, but don't think SDSU an at-large caliber team. You can do the math of what that means they think of USD.
