Seems we lost Phillip Powell to Washington State earlier this summer. Is there more to the story with two DB's both starters transferring? Either way good luck to Mark hope he ends up where he wants to go.

Lets take a look at the schedule to see how this will play out. Feb 19th - vs Western Illinois - imagine if the host was switched and this had to be played in McComb in mid February. These two teams were made to play in good conditions and thank goodness that will be reality. Feb 26th - vs UNI - The Panthers are a team that would be better suited to play outside IMO. We have another game at home in February guaranteeing that the Coyotes will not have to play outside in February. We are very lucky to have the first two at home. This team is better fit to play indoors. Mar 4th - at UND - wow another break. The first 3 weeks are all indoors. The game is never easy in Grand Forks but 3 straight weeks of indoor football is a big break. Mar 13th - at Indiana State - OK so this one could be tough but it is getting closer to mid march and Indiana winters probably aren't quite as bad as SD or ND. ISU-B is getting much better so getting a win will be a challenge. Mar 20th - vs NDSU - lets face it this game is usually not going down in the win column. But that is 4 of the first 5 weeks indoors. Mar 27th - at Illinois State - this one could be a bit brutal and the weather could be rough but not necessarily so. Winning in Normal is never and easy task. April 3rd - vs Missouri State - indoors with a game that could probably go either way. Another indoor game April 10th - at South Dakota State - Wow imagine if this game were in February. It is an outdoor game but maybe in mid April we could be looking at a nice spring day which might be 50 for SD standards. All in all this is not a bad schedule. 1 or 2 iffy outdoors games at most. The first two at home and another indoor road game early in the schedule. 4 or 5 months later and the next season will start. Sacrifice now and get a hell of a stretch of football later. Not to be argumentative but why do you say UNI is better suited to play outdoors? Footnote: Average tempature for Terre Haute on March 13th is 50. Last year was 54 degrees. Average tempature for. Normal, Illinois on 3/27 is 55 degree. Last year was 56 degrees I also believe NDSU would be better suited to play outdoors as well. I just simply think UNI is a team with a big O-Line, they seem to run the football and play stout defense. Maybe that is my historical view of them more than anything but just a quick thought as to why I think they would be equipped to play outside. I think the Yotes are built as an indoor team so when they visit the UNI dome I think that actually kind of helps the Coyotes. It seems like UNI has just as good of success playing in Brookings than they do playing at home against them. I am not referencing facts just a notion is all.

FCS schools are stepping stones for players these days just like they have always been for coaches.

Not out of the question to think the DC change & change in scheme may have factored into that decision.

I have been a contributor to this board since 2016 and have done my best to give an honest unbiased opinion as a fan and as a former high school football coach, but I have also been a parent of a player, Ben Klett. This week, Ben made a tough decision, with the loss of the fall season and his upcoming graduation in December, he listened to his body, and after playing football since he was 7, his body was hurting more than he wanted. He met with his coaches this week and concluded his career. I could not be more proud of him. I want to thank Coach Nielson and the staff, my son originally committed to him at WIU and liked what they wanted to build so much that he followed him here to USD. I have enjoyed every minute of watching him play and am very proud of all he accomplished, but most importantly, I am so proud that he will be earning his degree from this fantastic university. To be honest, I had never heard of USD prior to Ben committing here, but it is truly a hidden jewel in the middle of the country and the education he received is second to none. I am confident that Coach Nielson and his staff are building a championship team and be assured both Ben and I are looking forward to attending that final game of the season in Texas when USD wins a National Championship. I may still pop in and add a post occasionally, but I will always be watching a following the Yotes in football and in other sports as well. My son and my wife and I have made many lifelong friends and will miss all of the tailgating. Good luck this spring and in the future. GO YOTES!

I'm sure it was a monumentally tough decision for Ben Klett to make. He's going to be missed tremendously both on and off the field, but he will receive his degree and it's off to the rest of his life and in the big picture that's what you're here for. I'm confident that he'll acheive great things and be a wonderful example of the type of student athlete USD turns out. Best always Ben; I always did enjoy watching you run over people.

Mr. Klett, First of all, congratulations to you and your wife on your son. Ben is a class act, and it’s easy to understand why he is that way. Ben was a ton of fun to watch as he was that “bull in the china shop” type running back. You have to be your #1 advocate on your body and how it feels. Bens graduating with a degree from a great school, and as a former player myself, Ben will join a great group of guys called the Coyote Brotherhood This group of former players of all ages and all across the country does great things, and Ben will make us better. This group of guys has committed to fund the new locker room at a total amount of $350,000. In addition to that, they can and will open doors for jobs and career moves as well. Once a Yote always a Yote. Thank you for your kind words about USD and the coaching staff. Coach Nielsen is fantastic and will have us in the upper echelon very soon. Hope you will always come back to Vermillion in the future. Thanks for sending us Ben.

I see the bunnies have their scrimmage on Midco tomorrow. I believe the Yotes have theirs today? Will it be streamed, podcast? If not why not? That obvious question wasn't asked on this week's podcast.
