I got it 30 minutes late. They indicated would be no play by play. All the QBs had their moments. Quite a few freshman playing.

In the very limited action he received, I thought Devon Moore looked good and Ekern throws a nice ball. Certainly no questions answered. Hated to see Cody Case get hurt again. |

Believe a handful of players were out because of contact tracing.
Cam Tisdale and EJ Reed also appeared to get injured last night too.

Ekern looked best of the QB’s. Would’ve been nice to see Camp. Defense looked fast, was a little disappointed in the OL. Theis runs angry, as seen in the highlights below.

What does having a scrimmage prove? Nothing!! The only thing that it proved was that you got starters injured to appease who? The season ticket holders? I would bet any amount of money they would rather see the kids that got injured in a real game not a meaningless scrimmage. As for who looked good and who didn’t you need to look at who they were going against and how they performed. The team that had Parks and Tsaglis were going against the #1 defense with the #2s rotating in. The team with Ekern, Moore and Stenstrom were going against the 3s. So again what does that prove? Depth chart positioning, for any position, is determined at practice not a 45 minute show.

Let’s slow down here a minute. It isn’t like USD is the only school to ever hold a spring game for their 15th practice. And of course the number one hope with any practice or scrimmage is to hope that no one gets hurt. But there are no guarantees unless players sit out. And yes which level of competition you face matters. We’re just sharing observations.

This does allow us to engage in an old game we haven’t played in a while called, “Guess the upset parent” as the new member of the board. Who wants to guess first? We haven’t gotten to play this game since Brian Woodward’s family. He was a QB who got moved to defense because the staff favored Simmons after Streveler and they disagreed. 🤔

I stand corrected. The last parent upset was presumably Headlee’s when they were upset during the ndsu game last season.
