Looking at the seat maps from Ticketmaster, they are selling tickets in a "socially distanced" pattern. This means alternating rows, and selling them in 2, 3, and 4-seat groupings that alternate rows like a checkerboard pattern. They will probably lose a few seats with that formula, if they have to sell three seats from a 4-seat block (for example). Here's a link for the Monday game if you are curious: LINK
So I'd guess the capacity will be a little less than half of the normal 3,200 or so. around 1,400 to 1,500. Right now it looks like this is the count of seats left per session: 105 Saturday 219 Sunday 267 Monday Should be well-attended, with still almost two full weeks before the first tip-off to sell more. I'll guess they declare a sell-out of the South Carolina game soon.

I will have two extra tickets for each session, as two of my relatives cannot go. Each ticket allows you to go for the whole day, two games, and they were priced at $25 per ticket. I would prefer to sell them as a three day package, $75 each or $150 total.

After covid we'll have a try and get a home and home with South Carolina so they get to experience the SCSC.

Sanford has made the decision to not allow any fans at the tournaments this coming weekend. that is probably a good decision but that really hurts the yotes. the world has to suck it up with this covid mess for about 6 more months and then things will start to get back to normal.

It's disappointing, but also somewhat of a relief. My heart had been saying, "Go", while my brain was telling me, "Don't be a fool".

After covid we'll have a try and get a home and home with South Carolina so they get to experience the SCSC. Yeah, that would have been a treat to go to that game. Would have sold out immediately. SC is obviously not going to be surprised or intimidated by large crowds, as they play regularly in front of the NCAA's largest. Still, how many times do you get to square off against the #1 team in your home gym? Damn Covid. At least we get the chance to play them again. Dawn Staley is a real stand-up coach for doing a home-and-home with us. She was very complimentary and respectful of us in her comments last year, as well. And not in a "hot air" kind-of way. I've got no problem rooting for that program.

Some interview comments from Coach P yesterday LINKOn their prep for the Tourney (9:00): ...we typically have three (Covid tests) a week, now that the season has started. We also have an additional four that we have to be a part of for the ... Tournament..... We got a Covid test, got up early and lifted, and put up some shots.... It's just been so long that we've played outside competition, since March 12th when the NCAA Tournament got shut down. ... We will play three games in three days. That's a test for us. The two P-5 teams in the tournament open up their seasons on Wednesday. It's a little bit different. Their bodies recover a little bit different than... mid-major teams. It's hard for us to recover...

More on prep:
13:30 ...We've been prepping now for a couple of days for our opponents in the tournament. Friday-Saturday we prepped for Oklahoma, Monday-Tuesday we'll prep for Gonzaga, then we'll prep for South Carolina. And we have been doing some of those things already.....
After practice on Tuesday I came back to our offices and told our coaches 'we can't do this way'. We're used to prepping and going through 8 to 10 looks that our opponents run... it doesn't work that way this year, because now we don't have practice guys. We can't share jerseys... We can't prep the way we normally prep, either. We have to be able to asses what (the opponents' two top things are. We can guard two things. The rest we are gonna have to just walk through, and hope...

16:03 on Thanksgiving
This is hard. So much of our program is built around our ... togetherness.....Thanksgiving is always a really special time for us. Last year we were in the Vegas tournament, and had a big Thanksgiving dinner with the parents who were there.... This year it will be different. Our kids will be on-campus, but some of their families may be traveling here. We're kind-of asking them to stay away, because we want to protect our bubble as much as possible to try to ensure that we can play in these games. I hate that. I do. It's not who we are. but at the same time, it's what everyone is dealing with.
Our kids understand. They are really smart kids. They want to play. So they will do what it takes... (and we will be thankful)

Truthfully, given the current situation, all this stuff really makes me wonder if these games are even worth playing. Might have been a better idea to simply play conference games starting after the first of the year, but who knows if things will get better by then? Such is the reality of life in 2020.

22:45 on South Carolina:
... When you play a team like SC, who is one of the best defensive teams in the country, and can turn you over, and led the nation in blocked shots last year, and was 4rth in the country in FG% defense, you really have to change a lot of what you do, in nearly every situation.... I feel bad for our freshmen, because they have been practicing for so many days, and now before we play our first opponent, we have to change a lot of what we "normally" do in games. Don't get confused. It just so happens that this is one of those teams where we have to alter what we do.
... the difference in women's basketball is that the best players in the NCAA go to the WNBA AFTER they graduate. Kids stick around and play. And you are playing the best.... they will provide a phenomenally incredibly difficult challenge for us, and everyone who plays them.
...We do have some freshmen that will play...

26:30 on Gonzaga
...Their starting lineup will have four seniors, the returning WCC player of the year, two sets of twins on their team....
Very disciplined. Very sound. They don't make mistakes. They give you a couple of looks defensively. They've played together a long time and have a ton of experience.
Game two brings a very different style of play than Game one.
