Back to conference play. What do you guys thing about this one? I think we rebound and have a good game. I'll add some more thoughts later in the week as to how I think this one plays out.

My initial thoughts are the Coyotes play their best game of the year. They have something to prove.
More predictions later

Looks like the Yotes should have their way with UCDavis. They gotten pounded by Arizona State, Montana State and Hawaii and lost by a TD to D2 Humbolt State. Looks like the UCD team is not what it once was.

This does look like a game we should win if we play at a high level. I see that UC Davis beat UT San Antonio on Saturday....and thought that was impressive until I looked at UTSA's results to date: www.goutsa.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=13100&SPID=34919&SPSID=601025You would think a D1 team in San Antonio would have a plethora of talent within 20 miles of campus...but I guess it hasn't turned out that way yet. I am hoping, though, that our fan base isn't too complacent and turns out to keep the dome rocking on Saturday. Seems too simple: Everyone that had fun at the D-Days game should tell their friends how much fun they had and come back again with friends. To consistently be near the 10,000 mark regardless of opponent would be something the program should strive for in the next few years as the program continues to grow. To consistently have an electric dome atmosphere will be helpful in player recruiting and growing the fan base.

Way to put an end to the personal bickering - just move on. Thanks.
Now back to pride in the program and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism when necessary.
My thoughts are the BOR need to look at this situation and re-think the one year contracts. IMO, we can't attract or keep well seasoned coaches. The revolving Coordinator positions are killing the growth and wasting the coaching development Ed has done.
I know he is a defensive guy at heart, but at this point he needs to take control of designing and calling new plays. We are soooo predictable, obvious, and repetitive. Wes is in way over his head and Trip is out of position. I'm sure they'll get better over time, but we seem to have gone into every game unprepared and unable or unwilling to make the proper in game adjustments over the last 4 years. We're at D-I now. We're no longer the big sized D-2 team.
If you search the web enough, you can find high school film on our players and they were awesome but undersized. The size and strength have grown into legit D-I players. The musical coaching chairs have stopped their fundamentals development.
To make the rest of this season successful, Ed has to take charge and be more imaginative, and the team has got to focus on their individual fundamentals and responsibilities.
Going forward, the BOR has to get their heads out of their butts.

To consistently have an electric dome atmosphere will be helpful in player recruiting and growing the fan base. San Antonio was very athletic, had a good deal of size, but was very young (almost all R-FR and R-Sophs). Davis' passing game gave them fits, and that was the most success we've had on the ground this year (one feeds off the other, of course). Defensively, we pretty much stopped them expect for one long drive in the 1Q and a long TD pass/run late in the 4th when it was 38-3. I was surprised UTSA didn't try to run more, considering the size advantage they had, but the Ags seemed to shut down the run early. UTSA isn't a bad team. They lost at home in 2-OT to South Alabama who has only 2 FBS-losses. They played undefeated and 15th ranked Sam Houston relatively close. Southern Utah pulled away late to beat them by 3 TD's. Its not a great win by the Ags, but, its a win. They looked much, much better than in their win over San Diego (30-3 win for the Terrero's only loss). Obviously, the competition is much steeper this week, and the location makes an upset a tall order. IF we can run a bit, and open up the passing game, we'll make it a game into the 4th quarter. If we struggle with either (or both) phases of offense, its gonna be a long flight home. Is there any streaming video of the game, or are we stuck with radio?

Dr. Mike summed it up well. I will just add that Humbolt, while D2, was the best Humbolt team I have seen in a long time and had a close game with Cal Poly last year. The Aggies have taken a beating this year from some tough teams and fans. Over the last few years, they certainly have performed better in the second half of the season. This Saturday will be very interesting. Will they bring momentum from an excellent performance against UTSA, or will they be the team that played Humbolt. I wish I was making the trip out, but will have to settle for the radio.

Video streaming is available from the USD website for about $10. Not real sure on the quality as I think they use the same cameras they use for showing highlights on the scoreboard.

Maybe the UCD players were in a daze from all the smoke in the air from the Humboldt crowd. I'm sure the Humboldt players were used to it.
(For those that don't know, Humboldt county is essentially the pot smoking capital of the US.)

LOL, on our board prior to the game, one of the posters commented on the Humboldt game plan: puff-puff, pass. puff-puff, run. puff-puff, pass.

i'm hoping the Humboldt game was an aberration. we had 3 really tough games (ASU, Montana State, and Hawaii) and one win vs. a decent FCS team (San Diego), then a bye. we came out flat, Humboldt came out fired up. we gave up two big plays in the first half yielding 10 points, else shut them down. missed a field goal and some opportunities to go in 10-10. worst possible way to start against a hungry team. had chances in the 2nd half, but, didn't respond.
last weekend, they looked very sharp in all phases. against UTSA isn't USD or a Great West quality team, but they had speed and size and we stopped them. we'll see. we're pretty young; maybe we're hitting our stride, maybe we're just not so good. Saturday will tell alot, win or loss.

Hi Yotes. I found the link to stream Saturday's game. Some video streaming sites stink and I have turned them off and listened to the radio. Can any of you comment on the quality of your video streaming?

I think UC-Davis is a good team but they may have chosen the wrong week to play the Coyotes. I think everyone knows that the Yotes were not at their best last week. The Yotes will likely come out with plenty of energy and a point to prove. They also want to make sure they get through the Great West by beating every team and the Aggies have yet to fall victim to the Yotes.
All Great West teams are good, especially at home so no game is ever slanted too far in one direction. Davis won in Vermillion 2 years ago. I think this time it will be even tougher but if the Aggies can win the turnover battle and hold down the Yotes offense they have a shot. I will pick the Yotes to win but the game will certainly be worth keeping a close eye on.

seems like a key is how we handle Warren. Last year, we contained him pretty well passing/running, and did JUST enough on offense to pull off a win at home. we've struggled with mobile QB's this year, so its a big challange.
should be an interesting game. i think all the Great West games are going to be tough this year.
