According to the article USD has 14 players on scholarship and an option to add a 15th.

Any Cubs games you plan on going to? I've been looking at the Twins and Royals schedules for possible road trips. I have an idea, who do the Cubs play right after the SD Wisconsin football game? Would be a great road trip to catch the Yotes and Cubbies, heck maybe even the Brew Crew. Wait long enough and you might get those Twins tickets at bargain basement prices. I'm starting to understand what Cubs fans feel like!

Jake Thomas' shooting ability will be missed but I doubt he will get many quality minutes at a bigger school. He just isn't a good enough passer or defender. I wish him well though.

Yeah I don't see him making a big splash in the NBA. Maybe in the D-league or someplace in Europe but he doesn't quite have the size to play in the NBA in my opinion.

Great ideas Yote53. Anything to draw more attention to USD athletics the better. I'll be there on Thursday.

Bad way to end the season. However, looking back the USD women have a lot to be proud of this season. They are on the right track to becoming a successful team. Competition in the Summit will be more difficult, but the women should be able to compete next year. Unfortunately, this loss leaves a sour note on the end of an otherwise solid season.

Congrats to the women on their 5th straight win. Hegge was again simply awesome. There isn't much to say about her that hasn't already been said. Edwards stepped up and hit some key shots tonight as well. It's nice to see the way she and Robertson and Wilson have really started to fit in William's system. And the addition of Yackley to this year's team has been crucial. She handles most of the point guard duties which has allowed Roache to roam a little more freely on offense and set up for outside shots. The Yotes are pulling together when is matters most. With a win on Sat and a Chicago St. loss, the women will capture a share of the Great West Conference title. Hopefully this momentum will carry over to the GWC tourney and the women can head into Summit play next year fresh off a conference title. Keep it up ladies!

I agree with youthbballcoach. If the Yotes would've attacked the basket more consistently, they would have made it to the FT line more often and opened up things for themselves on the outside. It just seems when they get behind in games, they rush too much. It's like they are trying to make up the difference all in one possession. As for the end of the game, the Yotes did fight back into it. As for what Jake Thomas was doing fouling with the game tied, who knows. I still can't believe that. Players need to be aware of the score and time on the clock. Come on man!!

Congrats to the USD track teams. Hats off to their coaches especially. They have created winning programs and set a high standard for every new athlete coming in. Way to represent the USD community well and good luck on the upcoming outdoor season.

Another interesting group: Illinois' Orange Krush. It looks like they combine athletic enthusiasm and philanthropic interests. illinipride.com/orange-krush/This is a really good place for USD to start. I like the idea of getting the students more involved. Let's face it, student attendance at most game was sad. Anything we can do to help create more of a home court advantage will be crucial as we enter the Summit and a new level of competition.

Overall, it was a fun game to watch. The Yotes played with a lot of heart and didn't get down when NJIT tried to make runs. Louie was able to get to the basket which opened stuff up for others. Thomas had a lot better shot selection which led to some great passes underneath for layups plus he was a monster on the boards. And how nice was it to see the student section get into the game in the second half. It was fun to see that kind of excitement from the students.

Tibbits would be a good candidate but I thing Joey James is primed to take over when Boots leaves. He has been an assistant for many years and the fact he hasn't taken another job in my mind points to him as the successor to Boots.
