The game on Saturday was a butt whooping in every sense of the word. 2 things I saw I just can't get past. First, USD players sitting on the side line hanging their heads in the first quarter. Now I know it wasn't everyone but come on. USD was only down 14. Yes NDSU is a great team but at that point in the game, you are one big play away from making it a one possession game. It was really hard for me as a fan to see that and still keep the enthusiasm going. Also, I would like to have seen USD take some chances on offense. What the worst that could have happened? NDSU stops you for a loss or forces a turnover? Oh wait, they were already doing that but USD just kept running the same plays over and over. At least if you take some chances, USD might have gained more than than running up the middle twice and then trowing a 3 yard pass on 3rd down.

Two thoughts about the game: 1. Yes the lines on both sides of the ball looked a little rough to say the least. Along with that, USD's tackling looked terrible. It seemed as if the ball carrier was able to gain at least five more yards after first contact. Wrap up and bring them down! 2. VanderMaten is going to be a good QB for the Yotes for the next few years. He can use his feet to get out of trouble and he was able to make some great throws on the move including his TD pass in the 2nd quarter. He did miss some easy throws but most of those felt like he was trying to be too careful with the ball especially on the out routes. I'm excited to watch him grow and develop over the course of the year.

I don't really care who it is as long as I don't have to listen to Swain this year. Also, I'm hoping the post game show will be long enough that I can leave my seat at the dome and have it still be on when I reach my car.

According to the Argus, all the incoming freshmen are going to still come to USD. No word on the juco transfers yet.

A big thank you tot he Lady Yotes for a great season. Even though last night didn't go as well as we hoped, it was a great year. You gave everyone in Coyote Nation something to be proud of! Also, a shout out to the pep band. They were great all year and really added to the fun atmosphere at the dome. Thanks for all you hard work!

Despite not playing well, the Yotes still pulled it out. Hopefully the bench can step up and play better on Monday otherwise fatigue will play a factor. Our ladies looked gassed at the end of the game but still kept playing hard. Good job Yotes. See you on Monday night!

I can't wait to put on the red for another home game this season. It has been such a fun year to watch the women defend the dome. See everyone on Thursday night!

Congrats to all the Lady Yotes on an amazing regular season. Hopefully it will continue but that remains to be seen. It was an awesome year to be a Lady Coyote fan. They only lost one game at home the entire season. It was awesome watching them defend the dome all season.

A huge thank you to Louie Krogman. It sure has been fun watching him play. I had the opportunity to watch him play in high school, so it has been really fun seeing him come and excel at USD as well. He will leave as one of the great Coyotes that USD has had over the years.

What a great college basketball game to watch. Louie is such a stud! Too bad that USD ended up 1 point short. Tonight was another example of why USD has to get better at shooting free throws. When you lose by one, all the missed free throws come back to haunt you. USD did shoot 75% but Texas State shot 80%. It was also clear tonight that Boots is not a DI level basketball player. He hurt USD more than he helped them. Nimrod was much better than him when he got in at the end. Anybody see what happened after the game between the USD players and an assistant from Texas State? I was putting on my coat and all I saw was that one of their assistants had Mabbutt by the shirt and was yelling something at him. Overall is was a very rough game and Texas State was a very unsportsmanlike team. It seems a lot of Texas schools are like that.

Anyone with info as to what kind of team Texas State is? Is it a tough draw for USD?

It was indeed a great win for USD. What made it even better was that USD didn't play all that well in the 2nd half and even let ORU come back and tie the game but they didn't give in and came away with a win.

I turn on Sportscenter this morning and number 8 on the top ten list is USD getting dunked on by an Oral Roberts player. At least we made the national highlights!

From the Argus Leader:
VERMILLION — Starting point guard Alexis Yackley will be available to play on Saturday for the University of South Dakota women’s basketball team at Southern Utah, Coyote coach Ryun Williams said on Wednesday.
Yackley, averaging 31.6 minutes a game, fell hard on the court in Monday’s win over IUPUI in the first five minutes and did not return to the game. X-rays on her injured arm were negative. The junior from Onida is averaging 7.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 4.9 assists for the Coyotes (12-6, 4-5).
This is great news for the Yotes. They need her leadership on the floor. They looked completely out of sync without her on the floor against IUPUI.
