From the Bunny board, coyotefan announces: Welcome to the Future Coyote Message Board coyotered.proboards.com/index.cgiCome on over and post on what will become the main message board through time. The old board has old time thinkers running the show and has policies that do not welcome all opinions. This new board will not tolerate unfair practices when it comes to allowing all ideas and opinions. The admin will never censor opinions or delete messages unless their is vulgarity being used. The new board will promote reading and posting, not try to limit what can be posted. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and may voice that opinion. This is the place to do that.

Can't we just get rid of him for good? What does he add? I agree. He is a cancer that eats at the core of this board.

Anyone know if this year's radio broadcasts will be on AM or FM? According to my sources, it will be on the FM side, 106.3

Regarding the Montana game, John Thayer, "on the John", was visiting with Montana blogger, Greg Rachac billingsgazette.com/sports/college/blogs/catgrizinsider/ and I learned a few interesting things. Montana is picked 3rd in their conference, behind Montana State and Eastern Washington. The 3rd place pick is probably due in no small part to recent "issues" with player(s)s, coach, and AD. Montana is a very solid program and I am sure they will overcome most of their challenges. But, it is interesting to me that Eastern Washington is picked second and we all know how they fared last year (coming in as reigning 2010 FCS national champs) at the Dome. The Yotes will be under dogs going up against the Griz but I expect we will compete. The Cat Griz blogger was very complimentary of Coach Glenn, who is the winning est coach in Montana history (by %) and will be inducted into their Hall of Fame this fall. For those of you who are interested, John Thayer - "on the John", is on from 9 to 11 am and you can listen live at: www.kvtk.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&id=13&layout=blog&Itemid=13. He will be talking USD sports on a frequent basis. Go Yotes!

Drew Iddings, DL 6-6 244, red shirt freshman out of Rapid City Stevens was a highly touted recruit who should be able to contribute soon. He is a great athlete:

The thread is "football time".
My take on the upcoming season is that better pre-season preparation, and game time execution, will result in better outcomes. As I understand it, we had the most players ever working out in Vermillion over the summer. We will need to have the O and D linemen playing at full potential and hope the 2nd and 3rd men on those line depth charts can hold their own. If Vander Maten is given the time to make good reads we are going to move the ball. Jasper Sanders is having a very good camp and could also be a difference maker. It sounds like the defense is more cohesive and they will be out to prove they are better than pre-season prognosticators give credit. By all accounts, Joe Glenn is fired up (natural inclination I think) about his team's preparations and practices and he brings that immeasurable positive to the sideline. Thank you to all you hard working Yote players and coaches for the time you have put in and best of luck this season!

Call me crazy, but I absolutely believe now is the most positive time for Coyote athletics since I enrolled at the U in 1970. IMHO, over the years we have had University presidents who flat out did not like athletics, or were inattentive at best. We also sufferred from some really dismal ADs who (again, in my opinion) did more harm than good. In spite of that we had the Salem and Triplett eras in FB, a T & F program that consistently performs beyond all reasonable expectations (given funding, facilities etc.), and very good MBB and WBB programs in recent history.
The arena will be built, guaranteed. All you have to do is walk the nearly totally rebuilt campus and recognize that Abbott made all that possible. This next major capital campaign (maybe $250M in total) will be announced soon with the athletic facilities being a significant beneficiary. It will most likely be the final chapter in the Abbott legacy but it will get done and it will get done right.
True, we do not have enough rabid fans espousing optimism in the blogs, buying season tickets, joining the Howling Pack etc. but IT WILL COME!

The Utah State BB guide (2011-2012) doesn't add much to the recent press release. Born in 1991, 6-4 185 and a lefty. They touted his athleticism (first dunk at age 14), solid skills and international experience.
Is anyone else concerned by the lack of size in this recruiting class?

Yoteforever, thanks for summarizing a lot of similar thoughts I have had on the overall situation at USD. Your comments on Jim Abbott are especially true. If you have not had the time, or opportunity, to see how the campus has been transformed under Abbott's direction please do so as I think you will be amazed. It will make you proud of your University and a believer in what Sayler and Abbott will get done with the athletic facilities campaign.
