There is just something about this team that makes them fun to watch. It isn't always pretty but they sure do play hard and that makes them easy to cheer for. I was talking to a fellow Coyote fan before the women's game on Sunday and we were talking about how often the women's games were so much more enjoyable to watch. We agreed is seemed that the women played harder and that was one of the main reasons. After the men's game on Monday I walked away feeling like I saw that same type of effort and enthusiasm. Who knows what the season holds but it will be fun to watch. Go Yotes!

Great win to start the season for the Yotes. Even better when the leading scorer from last year only had 6 points and Allison only played 19 minutes. I thought the bench players did a good job and it is nice that the Yotes finally have a little depth. I really liked Korngable off the bench. She didn’t play a ton of minutes but another guard who can come off the bench and help drive the offense is always a plus.

I always lurk on our opponents message board the week of our game and I always thought they were pretty good to be around too, but this past week on Bisonville our fans base was referred to as stupid, jealous pathetic losers, Coach Nielson is a low key jerk, our players are cheapshot assholes and our facility is a dump. Maybe it's just their jerks who post there because I was kind of surprised by this, but it might be interesting to see what they're like when they fall back into the pack. Might take awhile, but inevitably they will at some point. Most of them are alright on BV, just two or three that are chronic haters to every team. Most likely the few that I saw walking around wearing NDSU blankets and sombreros. They are like the middle age bunny fans that wear furry rabbit ears. They may be great fans but lets be honest you look like idiots. I will give props to the few guys I saw with the real bison hats that had horns. I have always liked those.

As someone who went into this game with very little expectation, I still walk away disappointed. NDSU is a far superior team but as a fan watching from the stands it is disappointing to see so little fire from the Coyotes. This team has played flat the entire year.

I guess I don’t get it. So there are what, 4 or 5 home games? So they can set up temporary bleachers for the band on the west side, but not for fans? We’re South Dakotans. Nobody is going to b$tch about having to sit in bleachers, or even folding chairs. Figure it out. Be resourceful. Football attendance is the keystone of a healthy athletic department. This could harm the progress we have made. And get off my lawn! It says in the article that USD would have to get permission from the contractors to put the band on the west side. My guess is that they don't want fans on the other side as they would have to walk along the back of the end zones to get over there any they don't want fans going back and forth during the game. If is just the band over there then the bad just stays on the other side. I may be wrong but I think they want to keep as many people away from the construction as possible for liability reasons. All it takes is one moron to walk past a "Do Not Enter" sign and get hurt and then the sue the university. Seems that when people are stupid they can still somehow mange to turn it into a payday.

Not the best game I’ve ever seen the Yotes play but a win in the Valley is always a great feeling. It was a fun game non the less. I really like watching Klett run. He gets up the field quick and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder and punish the guys who try to tackle him.

Great second half to get the team on track heading back home for DDays. Time to Defend the Dome!

Offense looks terrible. OL can’t block anyone.

My daughter and I went to our first USD soccer game yesterday. Not really a soccer fan but we had a good time. For those who have never been- check it out. We will likely go to a least one more game this year. It was a beautiful day and a great facility.

When you have a chance to beat a P5 team you have to capitalize. We let this one get away. Up 24-12 we had ample chance to extend that lead and put KSU away. Didn't do it. Yeah, it's great to come close. But I don't feel good about this one. Should have been a W. Lessons learned, have to finish, can't make mistakes. That 5 yard penalty at the end was the difference between OT and losing This one stings because the chances were there. How many balls hit receivers in the hands and they flat out dropped them. That would have extended some drives and change the whole complexity of the game. But it was good to see lots of young guys step up and play with no fear and make plays. Can’t wait to watch this team next week in the dome!

My biggest take away is that he is here to win and isn't shy about saying so. I also liked what he said about having USD being the most prepared team for games in the country.

Per a post on the Utah State message board, Smith made this comment at his press conference: "He had a great coaching staff at USD that he knows and knows he can trust and knows their integrity so they'll get high consideration when putting together his new staff."I wasn't able to find any archived link to the press conference to hear the actual comment. If anyone does find a link, perhaps they could post it here. Not sure about a link, but that was his exact quote about them. He also said when asked about assistant coaches that he has had a lot of interest. He has 292 unread texts on his phone. So he didn’t really give any too much information whether they are coming with him or not. He also made it sound like no players would be coming with him from USD. Not sure if that includes recruits for next year too or not. I found the link on the Utah State website to the press conference. Haven't had a chance to watch it yet. player.watchstadium.com/webapp/utahstate/index.html#/archive/130385?school=123&live_section=1&archive_section=1
