...The coach for TCU said after the game that she was so happy when the clock hot 0.0 because she was waiting for that next USD run. ... Where did you hear this? I'm having a hard time finding any postgame quotes or interviews for TCU. There wasn't anything for MSU either. And on that note, I want to give a shout out to our coach and players (and administration) for providing our fans so much access with the post-game press conferences. I'm sure that after a tough loss it is a lot harder to step up to that microphone than after a win, and yet they do it every time, win lose or draw. They do it for the fans, and we should recognize that. I think it's a great opportunity for the athletes, too. Programs that don't require or ask for the athletes to speak after the games are missing a growth and character-building opportunity IMHO. It takes a lot of maturity and poise to break down the game when you are fighting back tears. Our girls have done an outstanding job representing the state and the University. She was on the post game press conference that USD does and puts on Facebook. It is also available on Coyote Vision on the Goyotes.com website. Their coach also had this to say: (from the TCU website) "This was one of the toughest games that we've had to play all season. This environment, the physicality of the game, the challenge to our defense and the toughness that South Dakota played all rival any other game we've played. We feel very fortunate to be able to get out of this arena with a win." - Raegan Pebley Pretty high praise from a coach who sees Power 5 conference competition all season.

Tough loss but TCU is not a slouch team. Their big girls were legit. We’ve been the smaller team every game this year and the lack of size hurt tonight. Once they switched to that zone it was really hard to get inside and the outside shot just wasn’t as reliable as it had been. Sometimes the shots don’t fall. The coach for TCU said after the game that she was so happy when the clock hot 0.0 because she was waiting for that next USD run. That speaks to the fight that the Yotes have played with all season. They never quit and with such effort that they exceeded everyone’s expectations. If you would have told me in November that they’d be undefeated in Summit League play and be playing in the WNIT quarterfinals I would have said you were crazy. This loss stings but the USD women are definitely in a fantastic place moving forward.

Props to the guy sitting in section 106 of the women’s game last night. He had an awesome red “Joose” shirt on. I literally laughed out loud when I saw it. 👍👍

Have yourself a game Chloe Lamb!! The most impressive thing is that the lineup that got the Yotes back in it after MSU went up by 7 in the 2nd half was 3 sophomores and 2 freshmen. Talk about playing with poise. The crowd was awesome tonight. Get your tickets and see everyone on Sunday!

I hope the crowd is loud and rocking tonight! The women play with such passion and effort that they deserve all the support they can get. They certainly represent USD well!

Every time I watch Chloe Lamb play, I am more impressed with her. She has great composure for a true freshman. She has gotten better as the season goes along and these extra games are an awesome chance for her to keep getting better.

Geez.....the officiating has nothing to do with the fact that USD is unable to stop SDSU guards from getting to the rim. USD players aren’t even close enough to get called for fouls. Defense is absolutely terrible tonight.

Worst possible day for bad shooting performance. Lack of size and a true post in the inside really hurt today especially when the shots just wouldn’t fa. This one stings but to say this team over achieved this year is an understatement. They far exceeded my expectations but it still sucks losing to SDSU when it matters the most.

Great game and a fun atmosphere! The entire season USD has not had to rely on one player to carry the team so on any given night it could be any player that makes the plays to provide the win. That was of utmost importance last night. All five player on the floor can be the play maker every trip down the floor which wears down defenses because they have to guard all 5 positions every trip otherwise they will get burned. USD never looked rattled even when they got down by 11. They stuck to the system and fought back. They are a tough group of kids and the freshman came in a played great.

What a fun game! I wish student would show out for all games and not just the games against State but that will never happen. The bunnies play was so bad that I actually saw a SDSU fan pull a Bud Light out of her purse and chug it. It was hilarious!!

Gonna be a slow week with no games to discuss until the Women's game Saturday... Question: Anyone else, besides me, could never find themselves cheering for the bunnies to win (ie... last Saturday's game vs NH and now vs JMU this coming Saturday)? I don't buy into the whole argument that it's good for the MVFC to have two teams in the finals. Or it's a SD team so we have to root for them to win to make SD look good... That is all BS to me and I could never, ever see myself saying that, "gee I hope the bunnies win for this reason or for that reason." I tell my bunny co-workers this and they are dismayed that I can't support them. I hear, "we cheered for USD when you were in the WNIT. Why can't you support us" I say, "great, but I never asked you to." I am thinking in my head, but rarely say it out loud, "I can't support you because I have grown up having intense, deep-seated hatred for the agricultural college." I can't even use their own proper names to reference them on this board because I have that much disdain for them. I always refer to them as the bunnies. Heck, even my sister is a bunny and probably received a somewhat okay education up there -- she is a nurse at the Avera Heart Hospital by the way. When my nieces wear their bunny blue and yellow garbage to family functions, which they ALWAYS do (do they give that crap away because you see it everywhere?), I find myself struggling to even talk to them without gagging - I have to look away... My four year old has a bad habit of walking up to people in bunny attire and telling them, "rabbits suck!" No idea where he learned such language... I agree with you 100%. I could never and won't ever cheer for the Bunnies as I have seen way to many blue clad fans sit at the Summit Tourney and openly cheer against USD when their team wasn't playing. Something about their fan base just rubs me the wrong way. Granted, some of it has to do with the success they have had since moving to D1 and it is something that USD is hoping to attain. Sounds like your kid and my kids could be buddies. My kids always tell people the Jacks are disgusting. A 2 years ago my daughter, who is now in kindergarten, made me a noodle necklace at preschool and refused to put any yellow noodles on it. I asked her why and she said, "Mom, you never put blue and yellow together. Those are Jacks colors and that is gross!"

Hopefully we get some butts in the seats come conference play! this team is fun to watch, that 2nd half was probably the best half of basketball we have played all year. I love simpson's game, and he is so much better when he "loves the rim, likes the 3" as Craig loves to say. We are tough to defend when he is knocking down shots. Attendence question: A coworker of mine was watching both games (USD Men / SDSU Women) on midco, and commented how many more fans appeared to be at the Women's game. I wasn't able to watch either, but to me, perception is important, especially on the TV broadcast. "Official" attendance for the Coyote men was 2101 vs 2068 for the Jacks women. I don't want to get into a discussion of padding attendance numbers, but I wonder why the discrepancy in appearance? Maybe the quality of opponent played a factor, with the Jacks playing Oklahoma and us Drake, but it is still WBB vs MBB. Maybe it is just a case of "sold seats" that people are not showing up for, especially on a weeknight? I also wonder if the camera angle plays a role. The area directly behind the benches are often half-full because they are reserved for visiting fans on one side/ family on the other (I think). If anyone has an idea, I'm just curious. I have seen a gradual improvement in official attendance numbers, but if we are sabotaging ourselves in perception by having empty seats down low where the camara sees, that doesn't help us much. It also isn't fair for the dedicated fans that actually ARE going to the games. Would it be that impolite if people moved down from their designated seat to open ones down lower? If the ticket-holder shows up, just move over. I've done that at Summit League Tournament games. Sorry to be a hypocrite, since I only go to a handful of basketball games, but I guess I am just puzzled by this. The area behind the benches look empty because quite frankly, they are not the best seats. My family and I sit in row 7 behind the scorers table. When we were looking at season tickets, anyone sitting in row 4 and closer behind the benches and scorers table gets a lot of the court blocked. You can't actually see the closest half of the court because of the the people working at the table and the players sitting on the benches. When I see the highlights of the games on TV, usually you can only see the first 4 or 5 rows which aren't very full. Last night, the seats from about row 6 and above had quite a few people in them but that doesn't show on TV.

Duffy didn't play. Wonder if she is sick/injured or they just wanted to make sure to maximize bench minutes? They said in the pregame that she tweaked her foot in the Tennessee game. She came back and played in that game but was going to sit this one out to rest it before the game at SFA.

Cold shooting doomed USD from the start. How many layups were missed? I think TBM missed 3 or 4 himself. Can’t miss the easy shots and miss FT down the stretch and expect to win.
Side note: I’ve seen 5th grade basketball games reffed better then that one. It is so hard to watch a game that is so poorly officiated. There was no consistency what so ever.
