I think it will be interesting to see if Allen gets bumped to the bottom of the WR logjam or if he keeps his starting spot after getting ejected last weekend. With a position group that deep you can't get stupid unsportsmanlike penalties, especially 2 in one half.

I didn't notice starters coming out and not going back in. Most just seemed shaken up. Maybe Coker? Who were they? Dalton Godfrey the long snapper after his first snap never came back. Alex Coker never came back. Isaac Armstead never came back. Mike Johnson never came back. Tyler Ciurej never came back. Kase was in pads on the sidelines. Johnson was not in pads and Powell started in his place. Powell had another impressive season debut with 2 FF, and INT (2 INT's last year at Drake). Looked like Armstead had an arm in a sling and Coker possible concussion as he was noticeably off balance after a knee to the head?

New basketball recruit: Matthew Johns, 6'8 wing out of Australia. Tall for a wing and a 45.8% three point shooter to boot. Don't know what year he'll be. goyotes.com states he is a freshman.

Is this true or just speculation? I haven't seen or heard anything except your post.

He is making quite the spectacle of this process...I don't think I've been so informed of a free agency type process since LeBron left Cleveland for Miami.

1.) How does one “sign” a “verbal” contract? 2.) Every coach/boss/person in authority is accountable for results 3.) You keep referring to Joe Glenn. You were an advocate that he was unqualified and a terrible coach. That he was a failure. Whether you agree or not ( and I know you won’t ) Joe Glenn actually got USD kick started and moving forward. He inherited D2 football players, and had to build up the quality of kids skill sets. Also, Joe wasn’t given the budget to succeed. His coaching staff was not D1 quality. Anyone and everyone familiar with the sport knew that, but Sayler didn’t deliver up front. That’s a fact. 4.) Mooney put himself out there before the hire of Coach Lee. IF coach Lee does convince him to stay, he deserves a ton of credit. If Mooney leaves, which I think he will, Lee has ZERO culpability ( your new word of the day ). Right now Matt Mooney has stars in his eyes. A number of big time coaches are recruiting him all over again. Beard, Hurley, McDermott, Prohm, etc. Matt probably feels special. Coach Lee in my opinion is doing all he can do to convince him that staying is the right thing. Just for the record, Utah States top player is transferring as well. Koby something or other. Does that make Craig culpable? 5.) Your comment it looks like we have a de-commit already, the tone speaks for itself. It’s like you’re saying “ well $hit, he already lost this guy”. That recruit doesn’t have a relationship with Coach Lee. It’s natural a 17-18 year old kid would question why he should go to a school where the coaches that really recruited him left before he set one foot on campus. In my opinion, here’s what you need to watch. Will that kid that de-commited be recruited now by Smith at Utah State? If not, why? 6.) Coach has been our man one week, and I guaranty YOU HAVE NO CLUE who the man has reached out to or is recruiting. NO CLUE. The bottom line to your post, like the vast majority of your posts is to draw attention to yourself through negative posting. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. Tick tock In what way did Glen get the program kick started. People still complain about the Coyote depth on the lines and on defense. If Glen left the program in such good shape why do so many people continue to talk about the general team depth. That has been a consistent argument from day 1 under Nielson. Glen did nothing other than act as an unofficial cheerleader for the program. In no way did he have the program on a consistent competitive level in the Valley and that cannot be legitimately argued against. If winning means 0% to someone than Glen was awesome. The reason I continue to bring up Glen is that it proves how so many people of the USD fan base have such a little amount of expectation for the program. It can be argued whether or not Glen was a good hire. What can't be legitimately argued is that he did a good job with the program, unless like I said winning means 0% to someone. I think the main problem with depth has been due to injuries and suspensions of 3 CB's...Holdovers like the Gray Brothers, VanRoekel, Simmons, Frederick, Jackson, Loehr, Wessel, Greenfield, Coker, Godsey, and 2 all conference level corners have had 0 impact the past 2 years huh? Some positions like the offensive line have been thin I'll admit, but I think depth has been due to injuries mostly.. Glenn also changed the culture of the team. Must be too busy counting seats at the games...rant over, back to basketball

For the people who think this was an inbread hire, I can see your point. It looks like it from the surface based on Williams’ history with Lee, but I think this job just so happened to open up at the right time and the job just so happens to be a perfect fit for him and also for us. I don’t know if Lee applied for the job when Smith interviewed, but we didn’t hire him then and Williams was involved with that process, if I’m not mistaken. All the hires this admin has been through seem to be thorough, as was this one. I believe I heard Herbster conducted 15 interviews and I doubt he would go through all that painstaking research and time just to pick someone they were dead set on from the very get go and also based on a previous relationship. He actually does check all the boxes, and I would have been disappointed if they had hired Miller. Hiring Miller would have been a sympathy pick IMO just because he is a S.D. kid, and didn’t get the USD or SDSC jobs in prior years. Miller also has no head coaching experience and there is obviously something us outsiders don’t see from the surface as he is now 0-3 in his job hunt between USD and SDSC. These hires always cause anxiety but the bottom line is Herbster has yet to get a dud and I trust his judgement. I was not impressed at first because I had never heard of Lee, but do we ever really know much about the candidates at this level? The more I read up on Lee, the more confidence I have in Herbies decision.

“Matt Mooney wishes Smith all the best...No further comment coming from USD players until a hire is made....” Mick makes it sound as if Mooney won’t be following Smith to Logan at least. t.co/9xYpyQsBkB
